Up, man.
Speaker B:How you doing?
Speaker A:Good, bro.
Speaker A:How you?
Speaker B:I'm good, man.
Speaker B:Good.
Speaker B:So Jerry's been texting me.
Speaker B:I don't know if you can see this.
Speaker B:He said to ask you why.
Speaker B:Why you're attracted to and why they call you Papa Julia.
Speaker B:I guess there's a.
Speaker B:I guess there's a hidden meaning behind that or you have to be part of the mafia or something.
Speaker A:You gotta ask Freddy, bro.
Speaker A:Ready?
Speaker A:Ready.
Speaker A:Tells that story pretty well.
Speaker A:It's.
Speaker A:It's funny, but, you know, it is.
Speaker A:It's.
Speaker A:It's entertaining.
Speaker A:We're going live in.
Speaker A:Like, we go live in five.
Speaker B:We're live now, bro.
Speaker A:Oh, okay.
Speaker B:We're live now.
Speaker B:Wherever you're comfortable, man.
Speaker A:I'm literally in bed.
Speaker A:I'm tired, bro.
Speaker A:I've been on.
Speaker A:I've been on a good.
Speaker A:I've been on a good one, man.
Speaker B:Have you?
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Traveling.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:You guys are getting ramped up.
Speaker B:What, next month, right, is Air Force One?
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Like, we're literally on a.
Speaker A:On a roll.
Speaker A:Is that good on lighting or is that too much?
Speaker A:There we go.
Speaker B:You're fine.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker B:Yeah, dude, Nobody watches the YouTube anyway, so.
Speaker A:We'Re gonna be.
Speaker A:We're literally tracking that right now, getting everything ready for afo.
Speaker A:But, yeah, I think a month from today, the project starts.
Speaker A:Oh, nice.
Speaker B:Nice.
Speaker B:This will be, what, 20, 22?
Speaker A:23.
Speaker A:22.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:22.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker B:Because it was two years ago when I was out there.
Speaker B:Yeah, Okay.
Speaker A:I know, dude.
Speaker A:I'm just like.
Speaker A:It's.
Speaker A:It's a lot, man.
Speaker A:It's a lot of work getting everything done and getting involved with the sponsors, the teams.
Speaker A:Like, we had a team meeting last night, making sure flights, hotels, everything is booked on and, you know, getting product up there.
Speaker A:So it's definitely an interesting situation when it comes to the whole project side that a lot of people don't see behind the scenes, you know?
Speaker B:So you're pretty much in charge of all of that, aren't you?
Speaker B:Now?
Speaker A:Myself and Becky, yeah.
Speaker A:Like, we do.
Speaker A:We do a lot of all the back behind the scenes.
Speaker A:Like, Becky's doing all the sponsorships, all the T shirt orders and the, you know, the coins, the patches.
Speaker A:Yeah, all that.
Speaker A:And I'm dealing the administrative side with the teams, you know, with the team selection and working with the board of advisors and, you know, how they select the teams and whatnot.
Speaker A:So that's good.
Speaker B:Now I know when I talked to Rennie about it, I don't know, whenever.
Speaker B:Last time I talked to Rennie about it, I mean, it's like one of those, like, as soon as it's done, it starts over again kind of thing.
Speaker A:It literally is.
Speaker A:It's like once we're done.
Speaker A:Well, I mean, I would say, you know, we, we get done.
Speaker A:He takes a week.
Speaker A:We take a week.
Speaker B:Yeah, but then he's got to like, resubmit the proposal and all that stuff to get approved.
Speaker B:But, like, once it's, once it's all approved and everything, like how, like, when does, when does the actual, like, planning start?
Speaker B:Like, okay, like, we've got to figure out who we're gonna pick to be, you know, this year's members, because it's not open to everybody in the Mafia.
Speaker B:Like, you have to be a certain, at a certain level, and they got.
Speaker A:To be in at least a minimum of two years before the projects.
Speaker B:But even then you, but even then you still, it's still a pick and choose kind of thing.
Speaker B:So, like, how does that, you know, how, how do you guys pick the people, the, the, you know, the, the members?
Speaker A:So we have, I mean, right now we're probably sitting about 100, a little bit over 170 members.
Speaker A:And what we do is we have a board of advisors to Rennie.
Speaker A:So we open up, there's an application process.
Speaker A:Everyone, anyone can fill out the application, and then it goes to the board, and then they meet multiple times and they kind of do a selection based on activity.
Speaker A:You know, what they've done to them for the group, brought back into the group.
Speaker A:You know, are they doing webinars?
Speaker A:Are they mentoring?
Speaker A:Are they participating in other projects?
Speaker A:Well, one of the big things that we look at is what are they doing in their local communities?
Speaker A:Are they giving back to their local communities?
Speaker A:Are they involved in the local communities?
Speaker A:You know, chamber of commerce?
Speaker A:Are they volunteering?
Speaker A:A lot of it, A lot of it is that, you know, and yeah.
Speaker A:Are they building other people up, not just in the group but in the industry?
Speaker A:You know, a lot of, a lot of times.
Speaker A:So they, they look at everything.
Speaker A:And one thing that we, we talk a lot about is like, you know, there's always great to have the great detailer, but we want an overall great business person.
Speaker A:The technical side, you can teach anybody.
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker A:That's the business.
Speaker A:That's the, that's the thing that we, we kind of thrive on right now is looking, making sure that we're making and helping build, you know, well, well rounded business owners.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:You know, so I just had an amazing idea, so I'm gonna tell you, I'm gonna text Rennie, I think.
Speaker B:I think this is how you guys should do it, right?
Speaker B:Rennie's got all the connections with Hollywood, right?
Speaker B:So I think we need to turn it into a TV show and we call it AFO's Next Detailer.
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker B:And so, like, it's like America's Got Talent or.
Speaker B:Or the Voice or whatever, right?
Speaker B:So, like, every week, you know, like, you guys start out with the applicants, right?
Speaker B:And so they have to do, like, whatever, right?
Speaker B:And then you guys, like, pick the people that move on, right?
Speaker B:And then every week, you guys whittle it.
Speaker A:Like, eliminate somebody.
Speaker B:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker B:Just.
Speaker B:Just like America's Got Talent or.
Speaker B:Or whatever, right?
Speaker B:Like the Voice or any of those types of shows until.
Speaker B:And we make a TV show out of it.
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker A:Like, I mean, that.
Speaker A:That is cool.
Speaker A:We.
Speaker A:We do have fun.
Speaker A:You know, we call them rookies the first year, and everyone was a rookie at one point, right?
Speaker A:But now we bring them on and, you know, so the application.
Speaker A:So to kind of get back to your.
Speaker A:Becky and Rennie, they kind of get involved in it, like, right after, they start talking to the museum to pick dates for the following year.
Speaker A:And then there's a proposal and all the administrative work that has to be done with the museum.
Speaker A:That's all Becky and Randy to get.
Speaker A:I don't really get involved into it until January 1st.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker A:That's.
Speaker A:That's when I open up.
Speaker A:We put out the applications, and I put it out to the group.
Speaker A:We run it for 30 days right after mobile tech.
Speaker A:Like, we close the application and then the board has.
Speaker A:So I have a, you know, I backwards plan everything.
Speaker A:1, 1 April, we have to announce to the.
Speaker A:To the masses of who got selected.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker A:Prior to that, like, the team will meet prior to that and be like, you guys got selected.
Speaker A:They just kind of keep it on the hush.
Speaker B:Gotcha.
Speaker A:You know, so it starts in January.
Speaker A:We run the applications for 30 days.
Speaker A:We collect.
Speaker A:I collect them all.
Speaker A:Then I disperse them out to, you know, the board members.
Speaker A:And then February, they start to meet.
Speaker A:They start to choose.
Speaker A:Because obviously going through applications, I mean, it could be four or five pages long, depending on how much they type.
Speaker A:Yeah, I mean, it's a lot.
Speaker A:And so.
Speaker A:And it's really.
Speaker A:It's just questions.
Speaker A:It's not just asking, like, are you involved?
Speaker A:Do you do this?
Speaker A:It's like, no, give us examples.
Speaker A:Like, what are you doing?
Speaker A:Like, I know if you saw on social media, but the last two weeks we were doing detailing for Heroes where a bunch of shops opened up.
Speaker A:They they choose a veteran.
Speaker A:This, this month was for a first responder.
Speaker A:In November, we do it again for veterans.
Speaker A:So this month they choose a first responder in their community.
Speaker A:They give back a detail 100 donation.
Speaker A:And it's just something that we gather our members together in a shop and we did it.
Speaker A:I think it was like 14 shops across the US and then we have one of our guys overseas that did it.
Speaker A:So just stuff like that, like, are you involved in projects like this?
Speaker A:Are you involved in other things?
Speaker A:And again, that's something that comes from Rennie and Diane that love to give back, right?
Speaker A:You know, is giving back, doing these projects to help our members also give back and show them, you know, that they can give back.
Speaker A:So that's kind of where it, where it is.
Speaker A:And, you know, and all that gets looked into, you know, that process and, you know, what are you doing for the industry?
Speaker A:Are you helping build others in the industry?
Speaker A:Not necessarily in a group, it's just the industry in general.
Speaker A:You know, like, what do you, what are you doing?
Speaker A:Are you with brands?
Speaker A:What are you doing with your brand?
Speaker A:Whether you're a brand rep and, you know, it does.
Speaker A:Just because you're with the brand doesn't necessarily mean you're going to get, you know, selected.
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker A:But, you know, this year we have nine rookies, and not rookies in their career, not rookies in their business, it's just rookies to the project.
Speaker A:And, you know, we, we do have a little bit of fun with them when we announce it to them, you know, we kind of keep them because imagine like turning in your application from mobile tech to like.
Speaker A:But I would say, like, March 20th, you're like, did I make it?
Speaker A:Did I not make it?
Speaker A:Like, so it's constant, you know, and, and it is.
Speaker A:I mean, because we could only take so many, you know, this year the team is 35.
Speaker A:And that include, that includes Rennie, Diane, myself, you know, the team leadership, which, you know, Doug and Bobby that run and been running that project for a long.
Speaker A:I mean, you've seen how big it is and it's like, you know, so it just, it just kind of goes and we recommend the teams.
Speaker A:But overall, like, last night was the last admin meeting that we had.
Speaker A:The next two meetings going into it, it's going to be all on, you know, the project managers and how they're going to run it and, you know, what teams are going to be where.
Speaker A:And, you know, we do all that planning, right?
Speaker B:Yeah, that.
Speaker B:Well, that's what I was going to Ask you next.
Speaker B:So, like, let's kind of dive into that, like, because.
Speaker B:Because again, I've been there.
Speaker B:I.
Speaker B:I've seen what it is.
Speaker B:And, and, you know, the one thing I always try to like, you know, on the podcast and when talking to people, because I know, like, you know, there's always a little hate in the industry about it, you know, but the one thing that I really learned from it is that, you know, at the end of the day, it isn't an event.
Speaker B:You know, it's.
Speaker B:It's not a de.
Speaker B:I mean, it is a detailing event, but it's not a detailing event, so to speak.
Speaker B:It is a working job site.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:And in two, it's.
Speaker B:It is an open museum, you know, so there is a lot that you guys have to kind of plan and strategize for because, you know, a, you guys are working on these planes that aren't, you know, Cessnas or, you know, private jets.
Speaker B:I mean, these are 727s and, and concords and big stuff, right?
Speaker B:You need scaffolding for.
Speaker B:You need harnesses for.
Speaker B:And in two, you've got visitors of the museum walking around as you do this.
Speaker B:And it's hard to, like, block off a plane, you know, especially Air Force One, right?
Speaker B:It's hard for you guys to block off a plane and say, like, hey, nobody can come on this plane today because, you know, people go there specifically for that.
Speaker B:So there is a lot of, like, magic that.
Speaker B:That I think you guys do with that.
Speaker B:So, like, how does all of that come about?
Speaker B:Like, how do you plan and, and structure that?
Speaker A:So again, it's the backwards planning.
Speaker A:There's going to be five of us that actually fly in this year on the 4th of July.
Speaker A:It's our advanced party that goes in.
Speaker A:And in order for us not to take so much time away from Air Force One and the bomber is, we go in Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and we do all the groundwork, we lay down all the plastic, we lay down all the tape, we mask off all the planes.
Speaker A:We set up the canopies, we set up the, you know, all the.
Speaker A:The products, the PNS products.
Speaker A:We set up the tables, we set up the.
Speaker A:The food area, all the canopies and tables, right?
Speaker A:So when the team gets there, I hand it over to Doug and Bobby and it's just on me.
Speaker A:It's, you know, this year I got these Jessica, Rookie, Chris Williams, Jimmy Buffett, I got Jimmy Sadowski from Dallas coming out myself.
Speaker A:We're gonna go in and just work three days to get the project up and going to make it easier.
Speaker A:So when the team lands there, we hand it over to Rennie, you know, Rennie hands it over to Doug, they do their speech, we do the safety brief and it's, it's going.
Speaker A:I mean, I think the last two years ago when it's, when I first did that, we had polishers going by 10am last year we had them going by like almost 9 in the morning.
Speaker A:This year I want to have polishers.
Speaker A:You know, I try to beat myself because we go in there and setting up.
Speaker A:I mean, it used to take a whole day just to set up the project.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:And they would lose the day and then they're running, you know.
Speaker A:But it just, every year I think we just tweak it and we get a little bit better, but we just kind of got to work it.
Speaker A:You know, the museum opens up, I believe, at 10am so we do all this stuff where we know that we're going to have a lot of foot traffic go through first.
Speaker A:So we're not blocking anything or blocking any pictures.
Speaker A:The last thing we want is someone to come in, try to go take a picture, Air Force One.
Speaker A:And then you got four people up there polishing all morning.
Speaker B:They can't get that picture.
Speaker A:Yeah, and that's where, that's where Doug and Bobby come in.
Speaker A:And they know that museum and they know those planes so well that it's like they strategize how they're going to work the teams and where they're going to position them every morning.
Speaker A:And then if we got to stop because the museum opens, we just go and we work another piece and the next day we come back out, we block that piece out.
Speaker A:And they're working on that.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:It's definitely a lot of mind mapping, a lot of planning.
Speaker A:There's a lot of systems and processes that go into it.
Speaker A:But, you know, the team that is assisting Rennie, you know, with Doug, Bobby, Shane, and you know, the leadership that goes in there prior, and, and, you know, the members that I mentioned that are coming in to assist us, it really does help out a lot because, you know, my first year there, my rookie year there, I think we spent probably like it was like two o' clock and we were still masking stuff off.
Speaker B:Oh, wow.
Speaker A:We could literally go in there on.
Speaker A:And even if it's the Fourth of July, you know, security's there, they know we're coming.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:They open up the gate, we pull up our, you know, we have a.
Speaker A:We have our own Storage facility in that museum where we got to go get all our stuff.
Speaker B:Oh, okay.
Speaker A:And a trailer.
Speaker A:You see all the trailer that stays there full of stuff.
Speaker A:So we.
Speaker A:We pack it to where we just roll that trailer right out, we pull out the plastics, we start laying everything down, all the groundwork, masking everything off.
Speaker A:So, yeah, I mean, it's.
Speaker A:It's a lot of planning.
Speaker A:You know, just yesterday, I was up there in Big Bear with Becky and Rennie, and, you know, they had to get on the phone with Bob and, you know, start ordering all these products to get up there.
Speaker A:It's like, you know, right down to crunch time.
Speaker A:But so, yeah, and it is big.
Speaker A:I mean, we're.
Speaker A:We got our patches, we're waiting on coins, we're waiting on shirts.
Speaker A:You know, shirt order goes in on Monday, we pick everything up, and it's.
Speaker A:Just get everything up there and make it happen.
Speaker B:Wow.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And I would imagine, too, that, you know, 22 years in it, it has to get a little bit easier, because it's not like the planes change from year to year.
Speaker B:I mean, they're pretty much in their same spots.
Speaker B:You kind of know the layout and everything like that.
Speaker B:So it's not like you.
Speaker B:This year, you know, you do it, and next year, the.
Speaker B:The layouts completely change, and you have to kind of re.
Speaker B:You know, reroute everything.
Speaker B:So that's probably got to help, I would imagine, at least a little bit.
Speaker B:Oh, yeah.
Speaker A:And we.
Speaker A:And I, specifically, me, like, I take pictures of the setups.
Speaker A:I take pictures of where we mask, where we didn't ask where things started, you know, because.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:All that falls on me while I'm there.
Speaker A:Especially, like, when we do all the sponsor banners, you know, where we lined them up, all of that stuff.
Speaker A:I take pictures a year before, and it's like, okay, this is how we did it.
Speaker A:When we do the team photo, like that used to take.
Speaker A:Remember Dan last year?
Speaker A:She kind of looked at me.
Speaker A:She goes, you knocked it out in 30 minutes.
Speaker A:What used to take four hours to set up for that one team photo?
Speaker A:Because it's like, I just took pictures, and I set everything up.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And I grab a team, and it's like.
Speaker A:And then I just move them.
Speaker A:How many can I sit on this bench?
Speaker A:And then I just count seats, and it's like, okay, this is where you got to go.
Speaker A:But even just that day is kind of stressful because I got to pull for the lifts to go set up to take pictures, which takes four lifts away from.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:Operations.
Speaker A:And Doug And Bobby got to find, you know, those teams not to be on live.
Speaker A:So it's a lot of communication, but I think, you know, we all work well as a team up there, and we understand the mission.
Speaker A:So I think once we're up there, it just kind of naturally just flows.
Speaker A:And we know what's coming up, like, media day for us is a big thing when we prepare for that, where it's like, we got to do so much work in order to get you guys to get your pictures up there with the banners and all that other stuff.
Speaker A:So there's, you know, that's.
Speaker A:That's all the project logistics team, which is, you know, the operation side.
Speaker A:Doug, Bobby and Shane, they.
Speaker A:They mastermind that piece.
Speaker B:Yeah, and that was.
Speaker B:That was the.
Speaker B:That was the real kind of surprise was when I was there was.
Speaker B:Was the pitcher on the wing, because I didn't expect that, you know, and.
Speaker B:And, you know, Chris was still running the show kind of then.
Speaker B:And Chris is like, come on, we got to get you up on the wing.
Speaker B:And I was like, get him on the wing.
Speaker B:He's like, yeah, the four pictures.
Speaker B:And I was like, oh, like, I get to be a part of this.
Speaker B:Like, that's.
Speaker B:That's badass.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:And that's.
Speaker B:It's definitely time consuming.
Speaker B:I mean, it.
Speaker B:It's not something that.
Speaker B:It's just like, you know, snap a picture, move to the left, next guy comes in.
Speaker B:Because you can only go, like, two or three people up there at a time or whatever, you know, so.
Speaker A:And we got to have someone on the lift, and we got to have someone down at the bottom of the lift.
Speaker A:That takes two people just away from that.
Speaker A:Plus the camera.
Speaker A:Yeah, you know, the guy on the camera.
Speaker A:So, again, yeah, it is.
Speaker A:It is a lot of moving parts, and it is a lot of communication.
Speaker A:But, you know, that's why we have all these planning meetings.
Speaker A:Before we go into it, there's a lot of talk, like I said, being up there with Rennie and.
Speaker A:And Becky and we're doing all that stuff.
Speaker A:I mean, we are.
Speaker A:Brenny loves notes, so he has his on there.
Speaker A:Anytime he has something, he puts it on his notes, and we're just on it.
Speaker A:And, you know, checklists, you know, we use.
Speaker A:We use a system called Trello to kind of keep us on track.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker A:Which, you know, so it's.
Speaker A:It's, you know, it's been going on for a while, and, you know, nothing always goes perfect.
Speaker A:You know, shipping isn't always the fastest.
Speaker A:Sometimes we have to reroute packages and you know, in product and whatnot.
Speaker A:But every year, I mean we just, it make, we make it happen and you know, if we forget something or, you know, we can't get it up there, whatever, it's, you know, it's just we're human, you know, we're not, it's not always going to be perfect, but we try to make it as fun and the culture is fun for the members that are up there and memorable for them and to make sure that they're getting the content that they need to promote themselves in their local communities, to show their clients what they're doing until at the end of the day, I think, yeah, the project is special, but I think that a lot of times it gets overlooked on the actual members that are there doing all the work and how it really affects them back home.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:You know, and that's important to us to make sure that that content gets out there.
Speaker A:And the other piece is, you know, the sponsors to make sure that we're taking care of and shooting out the sponsors.
Speaker A:Where, that's where my realm is at, where I have to build a social media schedule.
Speaker A:And every day the sponsors for each team rotates.
Speaker A:So team one can have four sponsors on Monday team, you know, and then that same team on Tuesday is going to have another different four sponsors.
Speaker A:So that way the whole time we're there, all the sponsors are constantly getting nothing but social media footage from that project.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Which is also very important is to make sure that, you know, the sponsors.
Speaker A:It's a big project, you know.
Speaker B:Oh yeah, it definitely is.
Speaker B:And I mean it's, it, it amazed me, you know, being there and seeing it, you know, how like, well oiled it is, you know, I mean, if there was any hiccups while I was there, I, they, they weren't noticeable.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:I mean everything, you know, everybody knew what they, where they were supposed to be.
Speaker B:Everybody knew what, what was going on.
Speaker B:And it, and like I said, I mean, not only just a job of that scale to be able to do it was impressive.
Speaker B:But again, the fact that it is a, you know, open museum at that time, it's not like, hey, we shut the museum down for the week.
Speaker B:For the mafia to come in here and just rip through these planes, it's, you know, you're working and, and people are walking by and looking at the planes and you know, that was one of the things that I really enjoyed was, you know, learning from you guys.
Speaker B:And then as we were kind of walking around or as I was walking around you know, people would come up and be like, what are these guys doing over?
Speaker B:You know, so then I kind of was like, oh, let me tell you, because I know, you know, like, I know what's going.
Speaker B:So it was kind of neat to.
Speaker B:To.
Speaker B:To talk to people about, you know, what you guys were doing, because, you know, you guys are all behind the barriers and things like that.
Speaker B:So, you know, it's hard for maybe these people to, you know, get answers, but even it was still cool to see members of the Mafia take time to stop and go answer questions for the people that were there, you know, and explaining what they were doing there and why it was being done and.
Speaker B:And all this.
Speaker B:So, yeah, man, it's.
Speaker B:It's.
Speaker B:It's one of those things that, like, I.
Speaker B:I'm.
Speaker B:I'm super honored, you know, that.
Speaker B:That Rennie invited, you know, the podcast out there at the time to be a part of it.
Speaker B:I was glad that I was able to, like, you know, scrape together the money to.
Speaker B:To kind of get there, because it wasn't a budgeted trip for that year.
Speaker B:Correct.
Speaker B:And it's one of those things that I truly wish everybody in the industry could witness, because it is a cool thing.
Speaker B:But that's where I go back and.
Speaker B:And I try to tell people, like, it can't be an open event because it is a working job site and it is a muse.
Speaker B:You know, like, if you want to go there, like, fly to Seattle, buy a ticket to the museum, you know, like, if you want to be a part of it.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:You know, and it's.
Speaker A:We get that all the time.
Speaker A:I mean, just earlier today, I was out in Pasadena, California, with William Lara with his, you know.
Speaker B:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker A:Going out there and, you know, talking to people there, and, you know, they see the shirts, they see the hood, these.
Speaker A:They're like, you know, how do I want to do it?
Speaker A:And it's like, it is.
Speaker A:It is a process to get there.
Speaker A:I mean, and it.
Speaker A:To me, when I got into detailing, I saw that, you know, and I was like, wow, I want to go there.
Speaker A:You know, I want to.
Speaker A:I want to detail that.
Speaker A:And I remember reaching out to Diane, and I emailed them, and I was like, hey, I just have a question.
Speaker A:Like, how do I get on there?
Speaker A:It's like, oh, you know, you got to come train.
Speaker A:You got to be part of the group.
Speaker A:You got to get selected.
Speaker A:And I'm like, that seems like a process, but that's what I want to do.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:And I just stuck with it.
Speaker A:And again, it's like, you know, I, I, I get that question a lot as I travel, you know, for my, for the current job that I'm holding.
Speaker A:It's like, you know, how do you guys get into Air Force One?
Speaker A:But then a lot of people are like, well, I think it's amazing what you guys are doing.
Speaker A:And they understand that it's not just an open invite to any detailer, because again, at the end of the day, Rennie's on the hook for that, for those planes.
Speaker B:Oh, yeah.
Speaker A:I mean, there's a dotted line that he signs.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:And I mean, I talked to him.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And I've talked to him about, you know, like, the insurance that he has to have for that job is ridiculous.
Speaker B:You know, So, I mean, it's not like, it's just, oh, yeah, come on down.
Speaker B:You know, like, we'll let you in.
Speaker B:We'll let you, you know, peek behind the curtain.
Speaker B:Like, it's, no, it's, it's a huge liability, you know, and, and again, like, you know, looking at it, you know, most detailers, let's face it, that would probably work in on aviation because I, the, I missed last week, but the episode before, I talked to probably your brother from another mother, Josh Hernandez.
Speaker A:I'm gonna see Josh.
Speaker A:He's got his event this weekend in Houston.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:On Sunday.
Speaker A:And I literally was talking to Zach and Connor from.
Speaker A:Or not second.
Speaker A:Connor, Zach and Bruno.
Speaker A:And they're setting up a booth there.
Speaker A:And I was like, hey, dude, I land in Houston at 11.
Speaker A:Drop me the address, I'm assuming by there and say, what's up?
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah, I know Josh.
Speaker B:Yeah, but I was talking to him and, and, you know, I mean, he was talking about, like, how these detailers get into aviation and they're not, you know, set up safety wise, you know, they don't, you know, and, and you go there with you guys and it's, you know, harnesses and, and, you know, like you said, right.
Speaker B:There's a, there's a guy on the lift, there's a guy at the bottom.
Speaker B:Like, there's, there's just safety checks all the way around.
Speaker B:So it is, you know, something that that is, is pretty crazy to, to witness.
Speaker B:And again, like I said, I wish after seeing it, I wish everybody could see it.
Speaker B:But at the same time, I get why not everybody can be invited to it and see it?
Speaker B:Because it's just too much.
Speaker A:And again, it's not that they can.
Speaker A:It's just, there's just a process to get there.
Speaker A:Right?
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:You Know, like, let's just, let's, let's talk about what we're doing right now.
Speaker A:You know, the podcast, you just didn't wake up one day and be like, oh, I'm gonna start a podcast.
Speaker A:Like, there was a process to it.
Speaker A:There's a thought process.
Speaker B:Oh, yeah.
Speaker A:All the equipment you have to get, you know, you have to get set up.
Speaker A:And a lot of, like I said, a lot of detailers want to get there.
Speaker A:And when we start explaining the process, they're like, well, that's something.
Speaker A:And, you know, and that's something that we also provide that mentorship where, when, when we get those leads and Becky and myself, it's like we continue to talk to these detailers that want to come train and eventually want to get there.
Speaker A:It's like, we will help you get where you want to get.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:But a lot of it is, are you willing to do the work to get where you gotta, you know, it's not going to be handed down to anybody.
Speaker A:It's not, you know.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:A few years ago we had shirts that said earn, not given.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:You know, and that wasn't towards the industry.
Speaker A:That was more towards our group.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:Like, you know, you got to earn it in order.
Speaker A:It's not just going to be given to you.
Speaker A:And that was nothing towards anyone in the industry or anything.
Speaker A:That was mostly our internal saying in the group, you got to earn your spot on that Air Force One.
Speaker A:You got to earn your way into the McCall's detailing team with PNS.
Speaker A:You know, you got to earn those things.
Speaker A:You're just not going to come in and it's going to be handed to you, you know, and it's, it's, it's structured the way that Randy wants it, you know.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:And I think it holds everybody kind of accountable that you can't just be like, you know, oh, well, I want to do Air Force One, so I'm going to join the mafia.
Speaker B:And then you do Air Force One and then you bounce out.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:Like, you.
Speaker A:Well, that's why there's a two year waiting period, because two years is a lot of time for the group to absorb, to see what you're doing and what your true intentions are.
Speaker B:But even then, not even, not even two years, like, in that two years, you have to meet certain requirements.
Speaker B:Like, I mean, obviously Jerry's a good buddy of mine, you know, and, and I've been cheering him on for these last two years.
Speaker B:I'm like, dude, is this your year?
Speaker B:Is this your year?
Speaker B:And he's like, no, no, next year.
Speaker B:Next year.
Speaker B:You know, and so, like, you know, I was super stoked for him when he got, you know, chosen this year.
Speaker B:But I know the work that he's put in.
Speaker B:I know he goes out to Rennie's, you know, once or twice a year, and he volunteers at the trainings.
Speaker B:I know he's, you know, done the.
Speaker B:In fact, I think just last weekend, he did the.
Speaker B:The give back, you know.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:The detailing for Heroes.
Speaker A:And honestly, Jerry.
Speaker A:Jerry has stepped it up a lot where he helps me with my job with Rennie, where he was like, hey, dude, if you need help, you know, scheduling webinars, because we like to do two webinars a week.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And it's hard to manage all that stuff, especially when I'm on the road for two or three weeks out of the month.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:Jerry stepped up behind the scenes and helped me build that program back up, where he's reaching out to people and, like, hey, you know, do you want to do webinar on this?
Speaker A:Do you want to, like, so then he just sends it to me, and I do the flyer we post.
Speaker A:And again, this is all internal to our group.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:But that's something that Jerry did, and that just shows what type of man that guy is that he's willing to step up and back just to help others.
Speaker A:Because he was like.
Speaker A:And, yeah, I was slacking on that because again, there's all these different things we got going on, and it was right after sema.
Speaker A:He goes, hey, dude, if you want help with webinars, I can help you with that.
Speaker A:And I'm like, yeah, dude, how do you want to do it?
Speaker A:He goes, I can just call people and ask for you.
Speaker A:Yeah, let's get it done.
Speaker B:So it's like.
Speaker A:And, you know, it's not like I'm calling Jerry, like, we don't have a webinar.
Speaker A:No, it's.
Speaker A:He's doing it on his own time.
Speaker A:I understand he's got a family.
Speaker A:I understand he's going on vacation.
Speaker A:I understand all that stuff.
Speaker A:And I tell him, dude, don't burn yourself out on this.
Speaker A:You know, it just.
Speaker A:People also want to be able to give back and give these webinars.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:You know, and throw back to the group and show what you're going through and share your struggles or share your story with the group.
Speaker A:So, yeah, I mean that.
Speaker A:I think that's what helped Jerry.
Speaker A:And again, on top of all the other stuff Jerry does in this group, you know, he's always the first One to raise his hand.
Speaker A:He's always.
Speaker A:He's always sitting in the front at every education day that we do.
Speaker A:He's always out there just doing, you know, doing what he does.
Speaker A:So for Jerry to get selected this year, I was very excited for him.
Speaker A:And, you know, you should ask him.
Speaker A:You should ask him how he was notified, how he.
Speaker B:I will now have a meeting with a few people.
Speaker A:And he thought he was in trouble.
Speaker A:And it was like, no, bro, it's because he got selected Air Force One.
Speaker B:He goes, what?
Speaker B:Nice.
Speaker A:Yeah, he was pretty scared, man.
Speaker A:But it was good.
Speaker A:I mean, we have to.
Speaker A:We like to have fun like that, too, you know?
Speaker B:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker B:No, and.
Speaker B:And, you know, I don't want to.
Speaker B:I don't want to kiss his ass too much longer, but, no, he.
Speaker B:You know, Jerry's a solid dude.
Speaker B:I mean, like, I mean, even with Aquatech, you know, I mean, he was like, dude, you know, like, you know, if.
Speaker B:If there's any.
Speaker B:Any way that I can help you guys or be a part of the brand, like, just let me know, you know?
Speaker B:And, you know, and.
Speaker B:And we were like, you know, my.
Speaker B:My thing to him was the same thing that Rennie told me when a few years back, you know, I reached out to Rennie and was like, hey, man, like, you know, I think I need to find a job in this industry.
Speaker B:Like, you know, you're.
Speaker B:You're a guy with all the.
Speaker B:All the knowledge.
Speaker B:Like, what do I do?
Speaker B:Do I.
Speaker B:Do I fill out a.
Speaker B:You know, do I send my resume to people or whatever?
Speaker B:And know, Rennie was like, alex, you.
Speaker B:You are your resume.
Speaker B:Like, you don't need a resume.
Speaker B:Everybody.
Speaker B:Everybody knows who you are, knows what you're about.
Speaker B:He's like, what you need to do is find a brand or brands that you would like to be a part of and start, like, cheerleading for them or be noticeable for them or whatever.
Speaker B:And so, like, I gave that same, you know, knowledge to Jerry.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:And not that Jerry wasn't cheerleading Aquatech, you know, but I noticed that he started doing it a little bit more.
Speaker B:He was posting about Aquatech a little bit more.
Speaker B:He was being more vocal in our.
Speaker B:In our installer group.
Speaker B:You know, we were starting to get to the point with, like, new products coming out.
Speaker B:Like, he was one of our guys that we felt we could trust to send him and say, hey, try this and give us some feedback on.
Speaker B:And, you know, I mean, he gave us great information.
Speaker B:This is what I liked about it.
Speaker B:It did this, it did that.
Speaker B:You know, Whatever.
Speaker B:So yeah, I mean it.
Speaker B:He's, he's a great dude.
Speaker B:And, and even with the.
Speaker B:The webinars.

Speaker B:But.
Speaker B:So Jerry and I have actually started another podcast together.
Speaker B:Since we're both cheer dads, I wanted to start a cheer dad podcast and I got, I got Jerry to help me out and, and Jerry's like, dude, I'm like available anytime except for like Mondays and Wednesdays, you know, at 8:30, because I've got to do the, the Detail Mafia webinar.
Speaker B:So we like try to schedule him at like 6:30 or 7:00 clock so that we're done within an hour.
Speaker B:It gives him plenty of time to be able to jump off and then do the, the Mafia webinar.
Speaker B:So yeah, dude, I mean even with, you know, all that he has on this plate doing a, doing a podcast with me, and it's just like, dude, it just got to be done before this time.
Speaker B:And I'm like, dude, whatever.
Speaker B:You just let me know.
Speaker B:God.
Speaker A:I mean it just.
Speaker A:He has, he is, he is like what we're looking for.
Speaker A:And I remember talking to Jerry two years ago at education day because, you know, going either before SEMA or after SEMA or definitely after mobile tech, we all stay back as a group and we do our own education day.
Speaker A:Sometimes we bring in brand reps, sometimes we just teach with on our own.
Speaker A:Sometimes we mix it up and just bring, you know, motivational speakers in anything that pretty much we can, which within our Budget or people are willing to stay back an extra day and go.
Speaker A:And I remember I did a class on, I brought all the brand reps that the detail mafia has.
Speaker A:And I mean, we had at that time quite a few different brand reps.
Speaker A:And the reason I did it is they all held some kind of a position.
Speaker A:Whether they were, you know, an ambassador, a sales rep, a trainer, you know, an influencer, they all held some kind of billet or job.
Speaker A:And that was really to give back to the group and be like, look, everyone is going to do their introduction and tell their story and how they work.
Speaker A:Because I wanted to open up everyone's eyes on how this industry works when it comes to these different positions.
Speaker A:A lot of times you see people at SEMA with these shirts and like, oh, he's with that company.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:But like, a lot of times they just gave him a shirt because they needed a body to fill the space.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:You know, and Jerry was one of those.
Speaker A:He's like, man, that's, that's, that's a dream of mine.
Speaker A:I want to be able to get there.
Speaker A:And I remember pulling him aside and saying, hey, dude, it's not always what you look what it looks like.
Speaker A:I said, it's a lot of work.
Speaker A:And I was like, and at that time, I was traveling a lot for Buff and Shine.
Speaker A:Yeah, I was on the road all the time.
Speaker A:Not that I'm not doing it now, but I think I'm doing it more now than I was then.
Speaker A:But it's a lot of hard work.
Speaker A:And I remember I was coming off of a 14 day trip, going straight into mobile tech, and then I was going to come home.
Speaker B:Wow.
Speaker A:So when I told them, I said, look, dude, I was leapfrogging across the United States until I got to Orlando.
Speaker A:I was like, and now I'm here.
Speaker A:And then I finally, after this, I get to go home.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:But we had one more stop in Miami before me and Rennie went to Miami to do something down there.
Speaker A:And then I got to come home.
Speaker A:And I said, so you got to ask yourself what you really want.
Speaker A:How's it going to affect your family, your kids?
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker A:Going on.
Speaker B:Yeah, that's the same thing Rennie asked me.
Speaker B:Because Rennie told me, he's like, look, man, he's like, you know, when you, you're, when you're looking at these, these brands, what you have to understand is my, you might think is the fit isn't the fit for you, you know, because they might need you to do this and you don't want to do that or, or, you know, whatever.
Speaker B:And, and, and it was funny because I remember I was, you know, and she was asking me connection back, so she was asking me.
Speaker B:She was like, well, what do you want to do?
Speaker B:And I was like, well, I don't, I don't know, Sarah.
Speaker B:Like, I'm just trying to like, figure stuff out.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:And I was like, why are you offering me a job?
Speaker B:And she goes, well, I don't know, like, we could probably find something for you, you know, with Rupes.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:And I was like, really?
Speaker B:And she goes, yeah.
Speaker B:But she's like, just understand it's.
Speaker B:You travel like 20 days out of the month.
Speaker B:And I was like, what?
Speaker B:And she's like, yeah, you know, she's like, I'm 20 days out of 30, like traveling, you know, wherever.
Speaker B:And I was like, man, it's.
Speaker B:I, like, I don't like traveling to begin with.
Speaker B:You know, I like the.
Speaker B:I like being at the place I like, you know, But I just, I hate to go into the airport.
Speaker B:I hate flying in a plane.
Speaker B:I.
Speaker B:I hate staying in a hotel.
Speaker B:I like being at the event or the thing, you know, or whatever.
Speaker B:But also I was like, man, I don't know if I could be away from my girls 20 days out of the month now.
Speaker B:You know, I come home and tell them that, and they're like, you know, take that job and get out of here.
Speaker B:We don't need you.
Speaker B:And I'm like, I'm like, yeah, until both of you are like strangling each other like Homer and Bart, you know, and, and you need me to like, intervene and I'm across the country somewhere, you know, or whatever.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker B:So yeah, I mean, sometimes you look at these jobs and you might think that they're awesome, but, you know, they take you away from your family, they take you away from, you know, your, your time or whatever.
Speaker B:So you have to.
Speaker A:Day to day life.
Speaker B:Yeah, I'm not.
Speaker A:I mean, I, I just, I was just in Mexico for two weeks straight.
Speaker A:I did a road trip from the border all the way to Mexico City with the distributor.
Speaker B:Wow.
Speaker A:And we were literally leapfrogging.
Speaker A:Six, seven hour.
Speaker A:The most was like a nine hour drive in between one city to another.
Speaker A:We were.
Speaker A:Would show up, unload the van because we were in his distributor van.
Speaker A:And we would set up at a shop and we would do a display, we'd work on a car, we'd break, you know, load the van back up, go to the hotel, get up and go.
Speaker A:And a lot of it was going.
Speaker A:And this is the longest that I've been gone, but you know me, I'm.
Speaker A:I'm single.
Speaker A:I got a fish tank.
Speaker A:And you said you don't like to travel.
Speaker A:Yeah, I literally, I.
Speaker A:I told someone today, they're like, dude, what do you do, like, when you're home?
Speaker A:I was like, I.
Speaker A:I came home last night from Big Bear because after that trip, I went straight up there and, you know, worked with Rennie and was still working the job.
Speaker A:And as long as I got WI fi, I can work, and that's my motto.
Speaker A:Like, if I got WI fi, I could run the show, right?
Speaker A:I could do sales, I can make phone calls.
Speaker A:I can do all that stuff.
Speaker A:I don't need to be behind a desk.
Speaker A:And it is tiring.
Speaker A:You know, when you come home and it's like, I finally lay on my bed last night, I'm like, man, like, literally, 17 days in hotels.
Speaker A:It's.
Speaker A:It's brutal.
Speaker A:You know, it is brutal.
Speaker A:And a lot of people don't understand that, but they see someone wearing a shirt that's got a brand, they're like, oh, I want to be a brand rep.
Speaker A:It's like, well, hotel life is not for everybody.
Speaker A:You know, flights is not for everybody.
Speaker A:I've gotten the travel down, I think, pretty good, especially flying out of LAX, you know, it's like, I'd rather take a 6am flight than a 9am flight because I don't want to deal with the traffic.
Speaker A:I'll wake up at 2 in the morning and be out this door by 3.
Speaker A:Yeah, I'll be at LAX by 3.
Speaker A:45.
Speaker A:And then I can just go in there, chill, and then I can work for an hour and a half on my laptop and, you know, do what I got to do.
Speaker B:Right, right.
Speaker A:For, you know, the manufacturer I'm with, or it is for Rennie.
Speaker A:I've just opened up my laptop, but I'm there because I've.
Speaker A:I've figured out how to work the airports and the travel, but that's because I do it so much, you know, and it's like, that's not that.
Speaker A:The lifestyle is not for everyone.
Speaker A:And I get asked all the time like, oh, I want to work with this company.
Speaker A:I want to work with that.
Speaker A:And it's like, well, ask yourself, like, you know, I had to put my business on hold.
Speaker A:805 Detail Shop.
Speaker A:I still detail out of my shop.
Speaker A:I still have it.
Speaker B:Oh, okay.
Speaker A:It's closed, you know, but I still have.
Speaker A:I can still book cars, and I'll still do them, you know, after I get back.
Speaker A:I go to Houston on Sunday.
Speaker A:I Mother's Day.
Speaker A:I got a Father's Day car show that we do for a local non profit here called Food Share.
Speaker A:And then that next week, like, I can book a car and if I want to detail it just sits in my shop for two or three days and I just go in there and chip away at it enough to pay my overhead, as I'm still working to pay my overhead, you know.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:I don't like to pull from every.
Speaker A:From anywhere else for that.
Speaker A:So I still got to justify it.
Speaker A:You know, I do a fleet once a month that I wash trucks on whatever Saturday or Sunday I want, I roll into this yard and I do the whole fleet.
Speaker A:And that pays.
Speaker A:That pays the bills.
Speaker A:So I'm still actively detailing, not just, you know, doing other things, because I gotta justify it.
Speaker A:But what I'm trying to get at is that, you know, a lot of people in the industry want that.
Speaker A:They want to go work for companies like Rupes.
Speaker A:They want to work for, you know, companies like Buff and Shine and, you know, and this and that, and Stinger or, you know, or pns, whatever company it is.
Speaker A:They're all great companies to work for.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:But they got to ask themselves, are they willing to sacrifice other things?
Speaker A:Like in your case, children, you know, cheer vacations.
Speaker A:You know, I was out in Mexico and I think Rennie was in Canada and like.
Speaker A:Yeah, we were both traveling and it's like I worked right through a holiday weekend.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:It didn't even phase me that it was a holiday weekend.
Speaker A:Right, right.
Speaker A:It was a whole other country.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:Like, I'm watching people's stories and I'm like, what are you doing at the beach on Monday, 11 into the trip?
Speaker A:And I'm like, what are you.
Speaker A:Everybody off, like, you're not going to school.
Speaker A:You know, kids are out, you know.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And a lot of it is, you know, are you willing to, to sacrifice that?
Speaker A:And I.
Speaker A:I've done trainings with, you know, rupes, with people in rupes, and they do travel a lot.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And that's what a lot of people don't see.
Speaker A:And I think that there's a misunderstanding when we go to trade shows and it's like, they just see you at the booth and, you know, you look cool with the shirt and you're working.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:But, yeah, they don't know that you.
Speaker B:Get the free stuff and you got all the cool stuff and.
Speaker B:Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Speaker A:And they don't get it?
Speaker A:And it's like, you know, people show up to see him as early as Friday, Saturday, and they start setting up their boots.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And then by the time the show starts, it's like, I'm already tired of being in Vegas.
Speaker A:It's like, I got four more days of this.
Speaker A:Like, well, then ends.
Speaker A:And then you got to break down the booth.
Speaker A:And I'm just like, dude.
Speaker A:I was like.
Speaker B:And then two, you don't.
Speaker B:You don't really get to enjoy it while you're there, because you're stuck in the booth the whole day, so it's not even like you can walk around.
Speaker B:I mean, that's the one thing that, you know, the.
Speaker B:The past two years with.
Speaker B:With Aquatech at mte that's kind of bummed me out is because now I don't.
Speaker B:I'm like, I'm in a booth.
Speaker B:I don't get to walk around and, like, chill with everybody and see everybody.
Speaker B:Like, I'd like to.
Speaker B:And it's.
Speaker B:And it's.
Speaker B:You know, it's.
Speaker B:It not a bummer, but, like.
Speaker B:But at the same time, kind of a bummer.
Speaker B:You know, it is.
Speaker A:I mean, I.
Speaker A:I said it the other day where they're talking about sema, and we were in Mexico City.
Speaker A:They're like, oh, you know, a bunch of us are going to SEMA and this and that.
Speaker A:Like, you should come out and hang out with us.
Speaker A:And I'm like, I don't think you understand my schedule.
Speaker A:Like, I have a set schedule at sema.
Speaker A:I had the certain time I take lunch, like, and I.
Speaker A:I just.
Speaker A:I can't just pick up and go and go outside and check out the cars.
Speaker A:Like, I think the last three years working sema, it really has changed my perspective where it's like, I just miss going to SEMA as Oscar with 805 detail shop and right.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:Going and, hey, let's go check this out.
Speaker A:Let's go check that out.
Speaker A:Or let's go eat here.
Speaker A:Let's take our time there.
Speaker A:Now it's.
Speaker A:When you're working a booth, that's what you're doing.
Speaker A:You're working.
Speaker A:And it's not always what it seems like, you know, it's not bad at all.
Speaker A:It's just a different perspective, you know?
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:You get to see.
Speaker A:And you saw that mobile tech.
Speaker A:You get to see the booth on the way to the bathroom and back.
Speaker B:Yeah, yeah, pretty much.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And then an hour before, when you walk in and they let you in, and you're like, oh, okay, that's where that's at.
Speaker A:Like.
Speaker B:Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Speaker A:Like.
Speaker B:You'Re running from one side to the other or whatever, and you happen to see somebody in their booth.
Speaker B:Like, you know, like, I saw you, and it was just like a quick, you know, bro hug.
Speaker B:Hey, how you doing?
Speaker B:Hope all's good.
Speaker B:Catch you later.
Speaker B:And then.
Speaker B:And then, you know.
Speaker B:Yeah, it's.
Speaker B:It's.
Speaker B:It's tough.
Speaker B:At least.
Speaker B:At least we're still small enough that sema we go and we walk so, you know, we're able to walk around and see everybody and.
Speaker B:And kind of hang out.
Speaker B:But, yeah, MT Is, you know, one of those ones where, you know, stuck in a booth the last two years, and I'm kind of like, you know, man, you know, I mean, and it's not like I'm stuck, stuck, because with Jason and Mike, I, you know, I can be like, hey, I'm gonna go walk around real quick.
Speaker B:But at the same time, like, I don't just go walk around and leave forever.
Speaker B:Although this year, I was kind of more stuck in the paint correction booth or the contest booth because we had to get that up out off the ground.
Speaker B:So there.
Speaker B:I really didn't get a lot of time out of there.
Speaker B:And even then when I was out of the paint correction competition booth, I was running across the hall because Aquatech was way on the other side.
Speaker B:And so I was running back over there to, like, you know, hang out with Mike and Jason and.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:And, you know, give them bathroom breaks or, you know, whatever for a few minutes and then running all the way back to the other side of the.
Speaker B:Of the.
Speaker B:The conference hall to.
Speaker B:To the paint correction competition booth.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker B:Yeah, so sometimes it's not all, you know, rainbows and sunshine and things like that, but, you know, yeah, you definitely have to be down for, you know, the lifestyle that it.
Speaker B:That it provide, you know, or.
Speaker B:Or that requires of you with.
Speaker A:Yeah, I mean, it just goes to different levels.
Speaker A:Like, I know.
Speaker A:I know detailers that just go.
Speaker A:And once it's all built and they just go stand in the corner, put on a shirt, and they help.
Speaker A:And they just kind of help assist with traffic.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And there's the ones that show up and they're there from, you know, start to finish, you know, from building to break down to make sure your crate's gone.
Speaker A:I think mobile tech this year, after breakdown, we had a way for them to take the crate.
Speaker A:It didn't leave till, like, 9:30pm oh, wow.
Speaker A:Yeah, so it's like, we're there till 9:30 at night after Mobile Tech was over.
Speaker A:And it's just like we have to make sure that our crate gets picked up so it gets shipped back to the, to the manufacturer.
Speaker A:So it's, that's the thing that people don't see, you know, so it's like the partying and all that.
Speaker A:I love going to these trade shows.
Speaker A:I really do.
Speaker A:I have a great time.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's just a different feeling going with a manufacturer, you know, than just showing up with all your friends and just kind of hanging out.
Speaker A:And then, you know, I remember when we used to go to Orlando and be like, oh, we're not going to go to mobile tech today.
Speaker A:We're just going to go check out a theme park.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:In Vegas.
Speaker A:We're like, we're going to wake up late and we're going to go to the Strip, hang out for a while and then, then we'll go to SEMA around three.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:You know, and it was like, now it's like, no, you got to be there at 8.
Speaker B:Yeah, well, and it's got to be double duty for you because not only being there, you know, with the brand, but then you're doing stuff with the mafia, so.
Speaker A:Yeah, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker B:Exactly.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So you're, you're all day in a booth and then you're at night doing mafia things as well.
Speaker B:You know, like you said, you guys.
Speaker B:I know what sema, you guys go there.
Speaker B:Is it earlier.
Speaker A:Earlier.
Speaker A:We show up on Sunday, we have our education day on Monday and then SEMA starts Tuesday.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker A:So but then we have Rennie's party on Wednesday.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:We're up in Vegas a month and a half or two doing a site survey and seeing the party and all that stuff.
Speaker A:Location and locking that on.
Speaker A:But yet all that stuff has to get transferred up there.
Speaker A:So I mean, my days at SEMA this year or last year were starting probably about 6, 6:30.
Speaker A:I was on the floor.
Speaker A:Wow.
Speaker A:To make sure that things.
Speaker A:Because I'm the one that puts up all the.
Speaker A:Me and Becky were walking around putting up all the sponsors and the AFO sponsored things on everyone's booths and then passing out, making sure that everybody got information for the party on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Speaker A:And then, you know, cut out of there right after sema, just go shower.
Speaker A:And I think this year was a new location.
Speaker A:We actually rented the little tiny home that was inside of the party.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker A:That's where, that's where we got ready.
Speaker A:Like, oh, okay.
Speaker A:We had no time to go to the Hotel.
Speaker A:We went straight from the floor.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:There.
Speaker A:Brittany's like, dude, let's just rent that spot and you guys can just get ready there, like, done.
Speaker A:So we showed up, we started setting up, we rotated, going, come out, get ready.
Speaker A:And it was like that.
Speaker A:It worked out perfect because that little tiny home was inside of that.
Speaker A:So, I mean, yeah, it takes a lot of planning.
Speaker A:But, I mean, I think we went up there, like, two months before just to do a site survey, that new location of, you know, getting things done.
Speaker A:And again, it just doesn't happen.
Speaker A:And a lot of people did come up to me, they're like, wow, like, you're doing that and this.
Speaker A:Like, how do you.
Speaker A:And it's just.
Speaker A:Just managing time, you know, but we couldn't do it.
Speaker A:It's not on me.
Speaker A:A lot of our members volunteer to help out at that party.
Speaker A:They help out at sema, you know, they help us move things forward.
Speaker A:So it's.
Speaker A:It's a village that we have that just comes together and it just makes it happen.
Speaker A:It's not all me, it's not all Becky.
Speaker A:You know, we.
Speaker A:We were there to handle things, to make things, but it really is.
Speaker A:The group comes together and, you know, they volunteer.
Speaker A:You know, just tomorrow, William has a meet and greet in Pasadena.
Speaker A:I got members like, hey, if you guys need help setting up, I could show up early and help you guys set up.
Speaker A:And I'm like, that's cool.
Speaker A:I'm not setting anything up.
Speaker A:But that's just what, again, what we're looking for is, you know, people willing to give back.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And that's what it.
Speaker A:That's where it makes it easy and it makes it fun, is that I'm working with these types of people that want to help out.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:If I can make a suggestion for the party for this year, indoors.
Speaker A:Indoors.
Speaker A:Was it cold?
Speaker B:Dude, I left early.
Speaker B:I left early because I was like, it's too.
Speaker B:You know, I'm a Florida boy.
Speaker B:I was like, this shit's.
Speaker B:This shit's too cold.
Speaker B:I had my hoodie on my long pants, and I was freezing my ass off.
Speaker B:And I was like.
Speaker B:I was like, dude, I.
Speaker B:I told Jason.
Speaker B:And I was also kind of tired from the day, you know, So, I mean, I think we hung out till, I don't know, 10 o' clock or something like that.
Speaker B:Nine, 30, 10 o' clock.
Speaker B:And I was like, dude, I'm ready to go.
Speaker B:And Jason's like, I kind of am, too.
Speaker B:And so it is tiring, man.
Speaker A:I mean, by that, Wednesday, if You're.
Speaker A:If you're doing SEMA and you're walking.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:You're putting your miles, so.
Speaker B:I think so.
Speaker B:So what we did, because you guys hadn't gotten to do the Aquatech giveaway or whatever yet, so, you know, Jason was like, yeah, but what are we gonna do about Mike?
Speaker B:And I was like, nothing.
Speaker B:And he's like, what do you mean?
Speaker B:And I walked up to Mike.
Speaker B:I was like, hey.
Speaker B:Because Mike.
Speaker B:Mike's like, you know, that was his.
Speaker B:That was his atmosphere.
Speaker B:Like, Mike loves the party.
Speaker B:You know, he loves talking with everybody.
Speaker B:So I walked up to Mike, and I was like, hey, man.
Speaker B:He's like, yeah, what's up?
Speaker B:I was like, look, dude, me and Jason are tired, man.
Speaker B:We're bouncing.
Speaker B:You stay here, so that way, when they call Aquatech up, you can go on stage.
Speaker B:He's like, yeah, yeah, okay, man.
Speaker B:I got.
Speaker B:And I was like, all right, Jason, let's roll.
Speaker A:We're out.
Speaker B:We kind of said our goodbyes to everybody on the way out, and.
Speaker B:And we dipped, you know, And Mike's like.
Speaker B:We saw Mike the next morning at the.
Speaker B:At the.
Speaker B:The breakfast buffet.
Speaker B:And Mike's like, oh, yeah, dude.
Speaker B:I stayed till.
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:He stayed till kind of late.
Speaker B:He's like, I left with the.
Speaker B:With the Angel Wax boys, and they called an Uber.
Speaker B:He's like.
Speaker B:He's like.
Speaker B:I called, like, a car service.
Speaker B:Like, it pulled up in a SUV for him, and he hopped in, and, you know, Angel Wax guys were like, you know, giving them about, you know, spending money on a car service, and he rolled the window down and did the.
Speaker B:Yeah, Rashid had it on video.
Speaker B:Dude, it was awesome.
Speaker A:Tommy and Rain are a good time.
Speaker B:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker B:It was.
Speaker B:It was a little.
Speaker B:It was a little cold last year.
Speaker B:A little chilly last year, but other than that, it's.
Speaker B:It's always a great time.
Speaker B:It's.
Speaker B:It's great to see, you know, the industry come together at Rennie's party.
Speaker B:Like, the different brands, the different everything.
Speaker B:I mean, the.
Speaker B:The first year I went to Rennie's party was the year before when me and.
Speaker B:Me and Mike went.
Speaker B:And that one was crazy, because that was the year that the round table got up during the auction.
Speaker A:Oh, yeah.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:I brought them up.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:And they.
Speaker B:They, like, took over for, like, 35 minutes.
Speaker B:Like, we're gonna add this in, and we're gonna add that in.
Speaker A:We're.
Speaker B:And, like, everybody kept coming up to, like, add stuff in to, like, optical.
Speaker A:Was like, we're gonna put in Five rolls of ppf.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Yeah, I want to win that.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Like, to, like, you know, up the.
Speaker B:Up the price and everything.
Speaker B:So that one was a.
Speaker B:That one was a crazy.
Speaker B:A crazy year, at least for that.
Speaker B:Of the two that I've been to.
Speaker A:Yeah, that.
Speaker A:That was something smaller.
Speaker A:I mean, we try to get the same spot where it's indoor, outdoor.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:But for whatever reason, the rental company had renovations, so they kind of took us up the street, so we had to go up there and check it out.
Speaker A:But I think that's where it's been historically, where it's at.
Speaker A:We'll see where it's at this year.
Speaker A:That's something that literally.
Speaker A:I talked to Becky this morning.
Speaker A:She's like, wow, once AFO's done, what do we have?
Speaker A:And I'm like, sema, we gotta do.
Speaker A:We gotta do the party.
Speaker A:We gotta, you know, running schedule.
Speaker A:We got to do all his appearances, the flyers for all that.
Speaker A:I said the podcast, you know, the webinars going into that.
Speaker A:I said, our education day.
Speaker A:So it just.
Speaker A:It's a constant flow.
Speaker A:But, you know, I'm going into my third year of working with Rennie on this, so it kind of just.
Speaker A:Everything is just.
Speaker A:I kind of already have it on my calendar.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:Of when to do what and what, how to start what.
Speaker B:So how did that happen?
Speaker B:Like, how did you transition out of, you know, just being a Mafia member into being kind of, you know, the head of the Mafia?
Speaker B:I mean.
Speaker A:I mean, it's.
Speaker A:And it's not.
Speaker A:I'm.
Speaker A:I'm.
Speaker A:The billet that I have is the Mafia coordinator, which is just an administrative assistant to Rennie and the board.
Speaker A:Really, it started when Chris Wolman, you know, jumped on board board with detailing success.
Speaker A:He was doing detailing success and the detail Mafia.
Speaker A:But then, you know, with Rennie's schedule being so busy, you know, and, you know, doing the traveling for him and all that, it kind of got to be a little bit too much.
Speaker A:And then they just kind of put it out to the group or like, hey, we want to bring on someone part time.
Speaker A:And it was an application process.
Speaker A:It literally was like they interviewed people and, you know, where are you at with your business and how are you at with this and travel?
Speaker A:And I think it just kind of made sense where I was at at the time with my business and what I had going on in my life, that it was like I was able to handle that side work and able to get up to Big Bear, you know, because I'm not close to Big Bear.
Speaker A:You know, someone said, oh, you know, you got hired because you're 15 minutes away from Big Bear.
Speaker A:I'm like, no, I'm about three and a half hours away from Big Bear.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:But, you know, I still managed to get up there at least once a month.
Speaker A:And it's not that it interferes with my other work.
Speaker A:Again, I think it just happened because of how I'm able to manage my time.
Speaker A:If I know that I'm going to work in Big Bear for five days, you know, I'm still going to do my sales rep job up while I'm up there, but I can still manage to do everything else up there because again, WI fi phone is all I need.
Speaker A:And I'm on the.
Speaker A:You know, because if I can do my job as a sales rep while I'm on the road and living out of hotels, why can't I do it in Big Bear?
Speaker A:So that's kind of how it went about, you know, just a few people, I think, applied, and it just, you know, went up to the board and Rennie talked to, you know, some of the founders, and they just kind of said, you know what?
Speaker A:That seems like the right fit.
Speaker A:You know, and at first it was like, you know, let's try it for six months and see if you want to do it.
Speaker A:And to me, I enjoyed it, you know, having the Marine Corps background, it just kind of always on the go and.
Speaker A:And always planning and always, you know, just kind of in my nature of being on the go, you know, And I.
Speaker A:I thrive when I'm busy.
Speaker A:I thrive when I have multiple things going on.
Speaker A:I love project management.
Speaker A:I love doing.
Speaker A:Doing, you know, stuff like that.
Speaker A:Which is why here in the community is like, I do car shows and give back 100 of proceeds that we raised to local nonprofits.
Speaker A:But I love planning.
Speaker A:I love the planning process.
Speaker A:You know, it just.
Speaker A:To me, I find it interesting, you know, like, when I first got out of the military and did my job, like, one of the first things I got involved in my chamber was I did a relay for life.
Speaker B:Okay?
Speaker B:They were.
Speaker A:The American Cancer Society is like, hey, we got this.
Speaker A:We need volunteers.
Speaker A:If you think you can help, please show up.
Speaker A:And I show up and like, so what are we doing?
Speaker A:Like, what is this?
Speaker A:Like, oh, it's a 48 hour event.
Speaker A:You know, we walk.
Speaker A:Everybody walks in a track, and there's this and there's that.
Speaker A:And we're gonna have a kitchen, we're gonna have food trucks, we're gonna have bands and DJs, and I'm like, okay.
Speaker A:So I just kind of sat back the first meeting, and then really, nothing happened.
Speaker A:And then the second one, they're like, well, we need someone with this.
Speaker A:And I was like, what's the layout like?
Speaker A:What's the overlay?
Speaker A:What is this looking like?
Speaker A:And they're like, what are you talking about?
Speaker A:I was like, we have to have an overlay.
Speaker A:Like, we have to know where things are.
Speaker A:Are going.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And they're like, oh, I never really thought about that.
Speaker A:I was like, you have a projector.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Hook it up.
Speaker A:Computer, boom, Google Earth.
Speaker A:And they're like, okay, you're in charge of the overlay thing.
Speaker A:And then it just became logistics.
Speaker A:And, you know, that's kind of what I like to do, is the logistics side of things.
Speaker A:You know, I love.
Speaker A:I love it.
Speaker A:And with the detail mafia, there's a lot of logistics involved when it comes to the planning.
Speaker A:You know, what we're doing for education days, you know, the schedules, the speakers, you know, who's doing what.
Speaker A:Air Force One, to me is like, I.
Speaker A:I love it because it keeps me on my toes, and it's just constantly workflow, you know, so that's kind of how it came about.
Speaker A:And then it just stuck, you know, and just kind of been doing it ever since, you know?
Speaker A:And then I.
Speaker A:I worked for.
Speaker A:Started working for Rennie before I got picked up by a company.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker A:So I was still detailing, and then that.
Speaker A:And then I wasn't seeking a job with the company as a sales rep because I just kind of landed on my lap app, you know, the opportunity came about.
Speaker A:I'll give credit where credit's due.
Speaker A:William Lara asked me at a sema.
Speaker A:He goes, hey, there's a guy that speaks Spanish.
Speaker A:Talk.
Speaker A:They're trying to get in with Buff and Shine, but they're in Mexico.
Speaker A:Do you want to translate?
Speaker A:Sure.
Speaker A:And that's how that happened.
Speaker A:It literally asked me to translate.
Speaker A:And then they're like, hey, we like the way this guy talks.
Speaker A:You know, come in.
Speaker A:First it was like, demo team.
Speaker A:And then that turned into like, hey, you ever thought about doing sales?
Speaker A:And I'm like, no.
Speaker A:Like, at that time, I was just so focused on in my shop working, you know, one car a day.
Speaker A:Didn't work, really need much, just right.
Speaker A:My headphones both polish, and that's kind of like what my temple was, you know?
Speaker A:And then that turned into like, well, you know, they offered me a job, and I'm like, well, what does that consist of?
Speaker A:And they're like, well, there's this, you know, contracts.
Speaker A:And I was like, well, timeout.
Speaker A:Gotta call Randy.
Speaker A:You know, Justin Loboto.
Speaker A:But like, hey, what's going on?
Speaker A:Like, how do I handle this?
Speaker A:And they kind of walked me through the process and did that for two years.
Speaker A:And then I left.
Speaker A:And then literally within a week, Stinger picked me up, and they're like, hey, you know, come on board.
Speaker A:And I was like, no, I kind of want to just go back to detailing.
Speaker A:And Dan decided, nope, come up.
Speaker A:So that's kind of how it was.
Speaker A:And then it just, you know, I hit a year with them now while I was out there traveling to Mexico.
Speaker A:And it just.
Speaker A:Again, it's just the.
Speaker A:The planning, the thriving.
Speaker A:And, you know, the scheduling, to me is.
Speaker A:Is kind of what keeps me going.
Speaker A:You know, I get bored.
Speaker A:I get bored very easily.
Speaker A:So if I'm not doing a lot of things.
Speaker A:And to me, you know, Rennie does tell me, you know, slow down, burnout.
Speaker A:He really.
Speaker A:He's the one that looks out for me a lot.
Speaker A:You know, Justin Lobatos call, calls me, you know, Chris Williams.
Speaker A:A lot of people do check in because it's like, dude, you're gonna burn out.
Speaker A:Yeah, But I also know how to decompress and kind of get back to myself.
Speaker A:And that's kind of how it all came about.
Speaker A:And now I'm juggling, you know, a little bit of work at the shop, you know, full time with Stinger, and then part time with Rennie.
Speaker A:And then I still have life, you know, I still gotta come back, but I still have my time, you know, and kick back, relax.
Speaker B:Well, again, like you said, I mean, like, you know, you can work from anywhere.
Speaker B:So, you know, even though you're working, you can still kind of relax in a hotel room or relax at home in a sense, you know, it's not like you're, you know, in a shop grinding away all day long and then going home and grinding away at, you know, whatever.
Speaker B:So I'm sure there is a little bit of, you know.
Speaker B:You know.
Speaker B:Yeah, it might seem like you're.
Speaker B:You're grinding a little hard, but I'm sure there's moments that you can find where.
Speaker B:Where you have a little bit of downtime in between.
Speaker A:Oh, yeah.
Speaker A:I mean, I like to show up to airports early, and then I just go into the lounges, you know, just sit back in the couch.
Speaker A:You know, sometimes I don't want to work.
Speaker A:I don't pull up my laptop.
Speaker A:They got a tv, watch a movie, you know.
Speaker A:And again, a lot of it is, it's the time management.
Speaker A:You know, am I working, you know, 20 hours a day?
Speaker A:No, it may seem like it on travel days, but when I get in, I go to the hotel, I literally go, you know, get something to eat or work out, you know, go go sightseeing, then come back and, you know, get a little bit of work done.
Speaker A:But, you know, usually travel days are travel days.
Speaker A:You know, if they're long, they're long.
Speaker A:You know, some are shorter than others, but I also get to see.
Speaker A:Go out and see a bunch of cool different cities, you know, and I'm out there traveling and I'm meeting people and.
Speaker A:And I think that's what I enjoy about traveling the most, is I get to go into detail shops, detail stores, and see how their operations is, you know, see how they're thriving.
Speaker A:And everywhere I go, I'm learning something new.
Speaker A:You know, it just literally today we, you know, Tony with Dr.
Speaker A:Color Chip was there.
Speaker A:Every time I get to, you know, to speak next to him or after him, before him, it's like I'm always picking up something new with Dr.
Speaker A:Colorchip, you know, and I just told him, I said, hey, I got, I got a distributor for you in Mexico.
Speaker A:You know, we were out there talking about it, you know, then we never really heard of it.
Speaker A:Let's get you out there.
Speaker A:And he goes, I don't want to go out there.
Speaker A:He goes, but give him my info.
Speaker A:We'll set them up.
Speaker A:You know, and to me, it's just connecting people and building bridges and just.
Speaker A:And that's what I, I really enjoy doing is just the connections that I make with while I'm out there traveling.
Speaker A:I think that's what puts me at ease as well is, you know, the Mexico trip was rough.
Speaker A:I'm not gonna lie.
Speaker A:Like, there's a lot of driving, but yeah, to meet so many people, I got to go into a bunch of shops.
Speaker A:I get to do a lot of, you know, two hour showrooms, three hour showrooms, or just do a car and just show people how to do things and, you know, show products and display products where it's.
Speaker A:That's what I like to do.
Speaker A:And then you just build these.
Speaker B:That's kind of what I'm looking forward to.
Speaker B:I've got my first, first travel the end of this month.
Speaker B:And it's kind of one of the reasons why we're not in Dallas right now for shine time is because I'm going into the month to Dallas, out to the refinery, which is a supply detail Supply company that brought.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B:Yeah, exactly.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Aaron and John.
Speaker B:Yeah, great people.
Speaker B:Yeah, they.
Speaker B:They ran into us at sema.
Speaker B:They.
Speaker B:They were looking for us and.
Speaker B:And didn't see us or whatever because we didn't have a booth.
Speaker B:They thought we'd have a booth.
Speaker B:And we happened to be eating at the beer garden and they were there too, and.
Speaker B:And great people talk to them, and so they brought Aquatech on.
Speaker B:So I'm looking forward to going at the end of the month and spending Friday afternoon and night and then Saturday with them kind of, you know, we're gonna do a networking again, work networking event on the Friday night that they do like once a month.
Speaker B:They.
Speaker B:They bring in all the, you know, the local detailers or whatever and do a networking event.
Speaker B:So I'll be there talking about Aquatech.
Speaker B:And then Saturday after their car show, we're gonna have a few hours where we're gonna do some demos.
Speaker B:So people who want to come in and see what Aquatech is about, I'm going to be there and.
Speaker B:And have our products and demo our products.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker B:So I'm kind of excited for that because I've done a couple of the training travels, you know, done the SEMA travel.
Speaker B:This will be the first time I get to go into a store or supply house and.
Speaker B:And actually kind of, you know, do the Aquatech thing or whatever.
Speaker B:So, yeah, if anybody's in the Dallas area, I will be at.
Speaker B:I will be in the refinery in Prosper, Texas, January 27th and.
Speaker B:Or not January, I'm sorry, June 27th and 28th.
Speaker B:That's Friday and Saturday.
Speaker B:If you want, come see me.
Speaker B:It'd be cool to see some of my.
Speaker B:My Dallas listeners or friends or whatever.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker A:Jimmy Sadowski's out there in the colonies.
Speaker A:He's got a few places.
Speaker A:I went out there.
Speaker A:I've been out there twice to that store.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker A:When they had the old name, I supported them at some of their events.
Speaker A:And honestly, when you compare, you know, an event like SEMA and mobile tech to something like that, those are the ones that I like to do the most because you don't know how much effect you really do have on the storefront when you have a brand rep show up, actually talk about it.
Speaker A:Like, the connections that you build there and the relationships that.
Speaker A:That are built on those small settings, those are lifetime friendships.
Speaker A:I've met a lot of people from the Dallas area just by visiting that store, where it's like.
Speaker A:Where it's like you meet these detailers and they're you know, they'll start messaging you and it just becomes like a social media type thing.
Speaker A:But it's like you're following them, they're following you and you get to see what they're doing.
Speaker A:And I think that's where, you know, I was there the year when I said I was on the road like 19 days before mobile tech, that was one of my stops.
Speaker A:I started in here in California, Arizona, and I just kind of leaped my way all the way to Jersey and then down the east coast.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:But yeah, it's a really cool store.
Speaker A:It's a very beautiful store.
Speaker A:They're a great location.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:You know, I've been following ever since we, we met them at sema.
Speaker B:I've been, I've been following them, you know, personally.
Speaker B:I mean, we all, we also follow them on the, the Aquatech and Instagram and they definitely do real good with the car shows or the cars and coffee.
Speaker B:So that's, that's where I'm excited.
Speaker B:And, and two, you know, I mean, they're, they're supporting us.
Speaker B:We're a small brand, like whatever we can do to kind of help them out.
Speaker B:And they've had some pretty good success with Aquatech lately, like getting people, you know, that were, you know, just looking for something different, looking for something new, you know, and they said, hey, try this, you know, and see what you think.
Speaker B:And so, yeah, I'm really excited to go there and just, you know, Aaron and John are great people.
Speaker B:I enjoy talking to them.
Speaker B:So I'm, I'm excited to go there and just kind of hang out with them and you know, show them a little bit of, of our product.
Speaker B:So that way they'll be able to show it, you know, correctly when they're talking to people.
Speaker B:And then we've got a new, we got like five new products that we are going to be launching right around that time.
Speaker B:So it'll be nice because I will actually be able to demo those products for them probably the weekend before we actually launch them on the site.
Speaker B:So that, that I think is also going to be a really cool thing because it'll give them a little bit of a sneak peek of what's coming that, you know, we've kind of been telling people what we've got coming, but you know, only a few people have actually got to play with it and see what they think and give us feedback.
Speaker B:So it'll be nice to go there, have some products, be able to show not only Aaron and John, but also show the people that show up for.
Speaker B:For those events and say, you know, hey, these are going to be things that they'll be able to stock, you know, within the next week or two after I leave.
Speaker B:So I'm super excited about it.
Speaker B:And I, you know, and it's something that, you know, we're looking to try to do a little bit more of.
Speaker B:Trying to find some smaller type things that we can get into to just, you know, start popping up and.
Speaker B:And, you know, having a presence at some of these little events that maybe don't cost us an arm and a leg, you know, to be at, like, SEMA or.
Speaker B:Or.
Speaker B:Or md.
Speaker B:Mte?
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Yeah, definitely, man.
Speaker A:I mean, I've been doing storefronts for three years now, working with storefronts.
Speaker A:And I'll tell you what, the.
Speaker A:The value, like I said with storefront and.
Speaker A:And I'm a big believer now of, you know, if a storefront doesn't event, it's going to drive sales.
Speaker A:Whether they buy your.
Speaker A:Your coding, whether they buy the chemicals that I'm with, whether they buy any other chemical in that store.
Speaker A:Events drive sales.
Speaker A:It really does.
Speaker A:It's a.
Speaker A:It's been proven, at least for myself, when a storefront opens up.
Speaker A:You know, I was up in Northern California, Modesto, at Vera's.
Speaker A:You know, we went out there, he had 12 people come through.
Speaker A:All we did was.
Speaker A:Went over the line, did a couple cars, and it literally was like, everybody just starts to go, and it really helps out.
Speaker A:So that's good that you guys are going into that and.
Speaker A:And doing these things.
Speaker A:And, you know, as you guys start getting into some storefronts, it's kind of like my sales pitch.
Speaker A:It's like, hey, how can I help you grow?
Speaker A:You know, if you bring us in, you know, we'll come in here, we'll do events, we'll do showrooms, we'll do that.
Speaker A:And I mean, we just did that over 10 cities in Mexico is all we were doing is showing up to these storefronts and, you know, or, you know, and some of them were detail shops that were selling product.
Speaker A:And it's like, let's just get them going and, you know, how can we help you?
Speaker A:And I think you're gonna have a lot of fun, man.
Speaker A:I mean, I still follow them on social media.
Speaker A:They're great people.
Speaker A:People, you know, and Jimmy Sadowski's like, not too far from there, but.
Speaker A:And I don't know if you like barbecue, man, but if you go to the colonies, you gotta.
Speaker A:You gotta pass.
Speaker B:I do.
Speaker B:I do.
Speaker A:There are Some very good.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B:I do like some barbecue.
Speaker B:I mean, it's.
Speaker B:It's a.
Speaker B:It's a quick, quick trip for me.
Speaker B:Like, I fly in Friday morning.
Speaker B:I fly out Saturday evening.
Speaker B:But the.
Speaker B:But I'll.
Speaker B:I'll put barbecue on.
Speaker B:On my list of trying to figure out for a lunch or.
Speaker B:Or a dinner.
Speaker B:The other thing that I, you know, people might give me for that, I just feel like I have to, because I've been to Dallas a few times for Haley's cheer competitions, and I've never had a chance to get.
Speaker B:It is a Whataburger.
Speaker B:So I feel like I need to eat.
Speaker B:I mean, thankfully, I'm flying into.
Speaker B:To love, and there's a lot.
Speaker B:There's a water burger and love.
Speaker B:So, you know, maybe.
Speaker B:Maybe when I leave Saturday night, I'll get to the airport a little bit early and.
Speaker B:And grab a water burger on my way out or something.
Speaker B:I just feel like I have to do it.
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:People.
Speaker A:Yeah, I mean, it's.
Speaker A:It's people that come to California.
Speaker A:I pick them up at the airport, like, in and out.
Speaker A:I'm like, why?
Speaker A:Why do you want to go to in and out?
Speaker A:Like, there's, like, in and out in every exit in California.
Speaker A:Like, oh, I'm gonna go to in and out.
Speaker A:I'm like, all right.
Speaker B:Yeah, go in and out.
Speaker A:You know, but it's the same thing.
Speaker A:When I go to Houston.
Speaker A:It was a big thing.
Speaker A:They took me there, and I'm like, I've already tried this, guys.
Speaker A:I've been to Texas a hundred times.
Speaker A:So it's like.
Speaker A:They're like, what do you think?
Speaker B:Yeah, that's.
Speaker B:And that's how I feel it's gonna be, but I just feel like I have to do it.
Speaker B:Like, I've been.
Speaker B:I've been to Dallas a few times.
Speaker B:Like, I said with cheer and with cheer.
Speaker B:There's no, like, time to stop, and.
Speaker B:And we're, like, smack dab in the middle of downtown and everything.
Speaker B:That's a restaurant that, like, that is, like, 10 or 15, 20 miles away.
Speaker B:So it's.
Speaker B:You know, you can't go to those types of things to try them out.
Speaker B:And we're usually flying in early in the morning and flying out early in the morning on a.
Speaker B:You know, flying in early on a Friday, flying out early on a Monday.
Speaker B:So you're not eating Whataburger in the morning, you know, to.
Speaker B:To try it.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker B:So, yeah, I feel like this trip.
Speaker B:This is the trip that I try it, and then I go, yeah, it's just a burger, you know, But.
Speaker B:But at least I could say I did it.
Speaker A:I mean, it's not.
Speaker A:I mean, it definitely is good.
Speaker A:Nothing on it.
Speaker A:You know, I don't.
Speaker A:I can't.
Speaker A:I can't think the last time I had in and out either.
Speaker B:But it's like.
Speaker B:I mean, from what I understand, it's smash burgers.
Speaker B:I mean, smash burger is a smash burger, but, like, I've also not met a smash burger I didn't like.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker A:Yeah, so it's kind of like pizza.
Speaker B:Pizza's pizza.
Speaker B:But, you know, I.
Speaker B:I mean, now I take that back.
Speaker B:I have had some shitty pizzas, but at the same time, didn't stop me from eating it because it was pizza.
Speaker B:So, you know.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's.
Speaker A:It's definitely an experience while you're out there in Texas.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:Oh, but you know what's funny is I still haven't been to Bucky's, and we got one, like, we've got one like, 30 minutes away in Daytona beach.
Speaker B:And I stop.
Speaker B:But.
Speaker B:But because it's one of those things that, like, I would have to drive there just because of, you know, to go to it.
Speaker B:What I'm saying is we don't have one here local to me.
Speaker B:So for me to go to the BUC EE's, I'd have to drive 30 minutes away, you know, 40 minutes away.
Speaker B:And like, I'm not.
Speaker B:I.
Speaker B:I don't give a.
Speaker B:About a gas station that much to drive like, 40 minutes away.
Speaker B:But then everybody's gonna be like, but, bro, it's up Bucky.
Speaker B:He's like, you know, you need to, you know, I mean, like, yeah, when they build one here in Orlando and it's a little bit closer, I'll go to it or whatever.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker B:I'm one of those people that I'm like, I don't really need to drive that far just to go to a gas station.
Speaker B:Like, yeah, I get it.
Speaker B:It's like the Disneyland stations.
Speaker B:But, you know.
Speaker A:I feel you on that.
Speaker A:Like, I won't go to LA to do anything, but if I got to go to lax, then I got to go to lax.
Speaker A:But I'm not gonna stop anywhere in LA on my way back home.
Speaker A:I'm gonna come straight home because I don't want to stop anywhere in la, you know, So I feel you on that one.
Speaker A:I'm not the one who's just gonna get up tomorrow, be like, let me just get up and go to la.
Speaker B:Yeah, well, I mean, it's it's kind of like, you know, when I meet people from, you know, out of state or whatever, and they're like, oh, dude, I bet you go to Disney all the time.
Speaker B:I'm like, nope, no, it's.
Speaker B:It's too goddamn A and B, it's too crowded.
Speaker B:Like, no, I haven't been to Disney in years.
Speaker B:You know, like, don't want to go.
Speaker B:And like, Michelle's all the time, like, oh, like, do you want to go?
Speaker B:They open the new.
Speaker B:The new one at Universal, The Epic Universe.
Speaker B:Do you want to go?
Speaker B:I'm like, no, it's too hot and there's too many people there.
Speaker B:Like, I'm good.
Speaker B:You know, I did Universal and Disney growing up.
Speaker B:Like, I'm good, you know?
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:It's today, coming from Pasadena into Ventura.
Speaker A:I drove through Magic Mountain here, Six Flags, and it's like, I remember I was like.
Speaker A:I think it was like, early 90s the last time I was in Magic Mountain, but I'm only 35 minutes away.
Speaker A:But I'm not.
Speaker A:Like, I'm.
Speaker A:No, wake up.
Speaker A:I'm gonna go to Magic Mountain today.
Speaker A:Like you say, it's in a very hot area and it's always too crowded.
Speaker A:I don't want to go stand in the line for two or three hours to get on a roller coaster.
Speaker B:The last time.
Speaker B:The last time we went to Disney or the last time that I went to Disney, I mean, I will say.
Speaker B:I mean, obviously, we.
Speaker B:We went a lot as Haley was growing up, younger years.
Speaker B:But the last time that I went and, God, it was miserable.
Speaker B:We went.
Speaker B:And I think it was this month.
Speaker B:We went in June of.
Speaker B:Of.
Speaker B:I think it was it June of 21.
Speaker B:So it was still.
Speaker B:It was just after Covid, but Disney was still masked up.
Speaker B:Now, granted, that was still in the reservation phase.
Speaker B:So it was.
Speaker B:The park was limited, you know, capped.
Speaker B:But, you know, I mean, it was still a lot of people there.
Speaker B:But, dude, you're talking Disney in June wearing a face mask.
Speaker B:Like, I was like, yeah, I was having it.
Speaker B:I mean, we.
Speaker B:We pretty much just went for Star Wars.
Speaker B:I mean, I think we were pretty much just there for.
Speaker B:I mean, man, we might have only been there maybe two and a half, three hours max.
Speaker B:Like, we basically just went to go to Star Wars Land, or Galaxy, whatever it's called, and we did, like, the three rides in Star Wars.
Speaker B:And then Haley.
Speaker B:Haley wanted to ride, like, one of the roller coasters over in Tor.
Speaker B:Toast.
Speaker B:I can't speak Toy Story Land.
Speaker B:So we went over there and did that and then, and then dipped out, so.
Speaker B:But yeah, that was brutal.
Speaker B:Mask and like 90 degree heat with 90 humidity, like all that.
Speaker A:I'm not good.
Speaker A:When I go to Houston, I know I'm gonna be hating it.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's just hot and humid.
Speaker A:I don't.
Speaker B:Yeah, good.
Speaker A:And hot and humid.
Speaker A:It's just.
Speaker B:Yeah, I was, I was.
Speaker B:No, so, so Jerry and I were talking to one of the cheer dads earlier this week for, for our chair dad podcast, and he's actually in the Dallas area and I told him I was coming at the end of the month and he's like, you know, he's like, don't bring a lot of clothes.
Speaker B:Expect triple digits.
Speaker B:And I'm like, well, dude, I'm from Florida.
Speaker B:He's like, oh, okay, you'll be fine then.
Speaker B:But yeah, it's.
Speaker B:Apparently it's already like hot as balls in Dallas, so.
Speaker B:In the Texas, Texas area.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker B:Yeah, you'll have fun when you go down there.
Speaker A:Yeah, I know.
Speaker A:I mean, every time I go in Houston, it's like shorts, but it's like for work.
Speaker A:It's like jeans and a button up and I'm Mike, can we go shorts.
Speaker B:And T shirt, please?
Speaker A:Like, can we stay?
Speaker A:And, and honestly, it gets so hot up there that the can't even keep up in the buildings.
Speaker A:It still feels muggy inside.
Speaker A:And I'm like, this is, I, listen.
Speaker B:I, I understand it.
Speaker B:I'm in Florida.
Speaker B:It's, it's, it's.
Speaker B:Today was.
Speaker B:Today was.
Speaker B:I was out doing mobile stuff today and I was changing T shirts after every car.
Speaker B:And every car is a ceramic coated car that takes me maybe like 25, 30 minutes to do a rinseless wash on, but I'm doing them inside people's garages.
Speaker B:So, you know, it's extra humid and hot in their garages and.
Speaker B:Yeah, I only have one.
Speaker B:Well, no, I take that back.
Speaker B:I have two clients that actually have mini splits in their garages.
Speaker B:So those two are a little bit more comfortable because I can go.
Speaker B:One of them, I can go stand in front of the mini split and get some air.
Speaker B:The other one, he actually not only has a mini split, but then he has two big fans that are on in the garage.
Speaker B:And yeah, it keeps it like I, I, he's like, I go there for one.
Speaker B:He's my last client of the day and I go there for one.
Speaker B:And sometimes he'll, because he's got four cars and he'll be like, hey, can you do one more or two more or Whatever.
Speaker B:And I'm like, in this garage.
Speaker B:Yeah, I can stay.
Speaker B:I can stay and do a couple of more.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:All day.
Speaker B:Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker B:It's.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So what would you say is maybe, like, one of your, like, biggest achievements, you know, with.
Speaker B:With all the stuff that you've achieved in the Mafia?
Speaker B:What's.
Speaker B:What's something that's really kind of stuck out to you?
Speaker B:The.
Speaker A:Honestly, just to serve others, to be able to.
Speaker A:To be able to provide back to others, to get back.
Speaker A:You know, the.
Speaker A:It's always.
Speaker A:I had a talk today when I talked to these detailers, and a lot of it is, I, you know, you pay credit where credit's due, and talking to some of the other members, I'm on the phone with them constantly.
Speaker A:And, you know, Jimmy Buffett out of Manteca T1 detailing, he literally said it the same.
Speaker A:You know, at one point, we were new in the.
Speaker A:In the Mafia, and it's intimidating to be in the group amongst all these people.
Speaker A:You know, when you're sitting next to Justin Lobato and, you know, Jo F.
Speaker A:Flores and knowing Doug Parfait, and it's like, guys have been doing this for a long time.
Speaker A:You know, it's.
Speaker A:We can't forget where we came from.
Speaker A:We were all new at one point, so I think we're at a point where we can turn around and give the knowledge that was given to us and to give back.
Speaker A:And I think that's, to me, is the biggest thing is to serve the group and give back to the group.
Speaker A:Yes, there's the Air Force One, and that's like, on the technical side, you know, working for Randy is obviously a big achievement to be able to, you know, to help him and, you know, be able to see the behind the scenes.
Speaker A:But overall, I think, to me is giving back to people is.
Speaker A:Is the biggest, I think, that I'm able to do at this point in my life, in my career, is to help others get where they want to get faster.
Speaker A:You know, learn from.
Speaker A:Learn from my mistakes, learn from others.
Speaker A:And it's.
Speaker A:Again, I don't know everything.
Speaker A:And I tell this to all the uncle.
Speaker A:All the new students that come through training.
Speaker A:It's like, I don't know anybody, but if I do know somebody that knows someone, I'm gonna be that bridge to connect people, you know, and it's.
Speaker A:I had someone tell me at Mobile Tech, they're like, dude, every time you're at the treasury, you're walking around, you're smiling, you're shaking hands, like, how is it that you can work a room that way?
Speaker A:It's like, I'm not working, I'm just building relationships, groups, and I'm in the, and tell people like, I'm not in the business of sales, I'm in the business of connecting people.
Speaker A:And that's what I told this individual.
Speaker A:I was like, because you never know when you're walking by.
Speaker A:I was like, hey man, I'm trying to find this.
Speaker A:But you know what, you got this guy over here that does that, or you know, you got, you got this guy over here that does this, or you need to talk to this person.
Speaker A:And you know, it's just always giving back.
Speaker A:And I think giving back is like really important because it's not about me.
Speaker A:It's, I've been there and I, you know, and it's just if I can help somebody else build up their business, whether it's social media, whether it's, you know, with the business license or, you know, whatever it is they got going on, even if I don't know it, it's just, I think it's just in me to give back and help others and build others up.
Speaker A:And I think that's what is the most, I think, rewarding thing.
Speaker B:And it also, when you do things like that, it also comes back to you tenfold.
Speaker B:You know, I mean, like you say it's, it's, it's bridging, you know, relationships or, or, or you know, you might not know it, but you know, somebody who can do it right.
Speaker B:And you know, because I always feel that way with like my clients, you know, like I might not be able to do it for them, but I might know somebody who can do it for them.
Speaker B:And I help them out or I educate them like, hey, you know, I might not be the guy for you.
Speaker B:I might be, you know, a little high priced or whatever you.
Speaker B:But you know, when you're, when you're trying to find that other person, these are the things you need to ask, these are the things you need to look for.
Speaker B:And I always feel like that will come back to me because you could help somebody out, hey, go talk to this guy, you know, and maybe it's a competitor, you know, go help out, go, go talk to this guy because he's got the thing you're looking for or whatever and it's a competitor.
Speaker B:But now you've got two people that know you, you did that.
Speaker B:And so now that competitor might refer you if you've got something that they don't have.
Speaker B:And that person that you sent over there is going to be like, well, man, you know, Oscar really helped me out.
Speaker B:Like, you know, I need to make sure that I, you know, I'm going to send the next, you know, somebody asks me, go talk to Oscar.
Speaker B:You know, so.
Speaker B:So it's.
Speaker B:It's.
Speaker B:It's definitely like the thing that you're not doing it for yourself.
Speaker B:But I always feel like if you're helping people or educating people, it's.
Speaker B:It always comes back to you down the road.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's good.
Speaker A:It's going to.
Speaker A:And then, honestly, my business was started just like that.
Speaker A:It's like, when I didn't have work, I got.
Speaker A:I was involved in my chamber of commerce very heavily.
Speaker A:And when I didn't have work or it rained or I just slow day, I would just go find nonprofits to go volunteer at, because, again, I could only clean my shop so much.
Speaker A:I only wash my truck so much.
Speaker A:And then it's like, okay, well, now I can go.
Speaker A:Let's just go meet people.
Speaker A:And I wasn't doing it for sales.
Speaker A:I wasn't going in there and be like, oh, you know, here's my card.
Speaker A:I was never.
Speaker A:And I.
Speaker A:I call it Matilda's dad.
Speaker A:I'm sure you've seen the movie Matilda, you know, with the sales.
Speaker A:You know, he's just a shady sales cars person.
Speaker A:And I was just like, I would just go in there and build relationships and then literally just bridging people, you know, and the way that we worked in the chamber.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker A:Just referrals.
Speaker A:Just referrals.
Speaker A:And going to ribbon cuttings and, you know, I would.
Speaker A:I remember going to a ribbon cutting.
Speaker A:A barber shop.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Obviously I shaved my head.
Speaker A:And, you know, so when I went in there, I went in with my 805 detail shop and I, you know, my hat.
Speaker A:And I'm going in there saying, what's up?
Speaker A:And he goes, hey, you know, how'd you hear about this?
Speaker A:I said, you know, I'm an ambassador with the chamber.
Speaker A:We like to come and support small businesses for the ribbon cutting.
Speaker A:He goes, wow, I didn't know.
Speaker A:I was like, yeah, you should probably about 10 to 15 of us as they roll up.
Speaker A:And he goes, really goes, I gotta go get my food.
Speaker A:So I was like, no, dude, don't worry about it.
Speaker A:We're just here for the ribbon cutting.
Speaker A:We'll take a picture.
Speaker A:And I was like.
Speaker A:And you know what, dude?
Speaker A:Before anybody gets here, let me grab a stack of your cards.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:So I can put them in my shop, because I Got a big car thing.
Speaker A:I said, if anybody ever wants, I can refer you.
Speaker A:Instantly, he's like, he don't know me.
Speaker A:I'm trying to help.
Speaker A:And he already knows I'm bringing him money.
Speaker A:So instantly he's like, what do you do again?
Speaker A:I said, I do auto detailing.
Speaker A:I got a detail shop.
Speaker A:And he goes, oh, man.
Speaker A:He's like, dude, I've been wanting to get this and how do you do that?
Speaker A:And I'm like, yeah, dude.
Speaker A:I said, yeah, we'll talk after your ribbon cutting.
Speaker A:I'll get your cards.
Speaker A:And it never was like, well, let me go look at your car.
Speaker A:I don't want to look at his car and give.
Speaker B:Right, right.
Speaker B:Exactly.
Speaker A:It just.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:It's just.
Speaker A:It's.
Speaker A:It's always been for me is just building relationships.
Speaker A:And I've always had it saying, you know, if people know you and they like you and they trust you, and.
Speaker B:Not only that, but they'll refer you to.
Speaker A:And that's refer you.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And I mean, to me, out here, I.
Speaker A:I connected with some people.
Speaker A:My insurance agent, I have a couple realtors.
Speaker A:To this day, if they sell a house, my 805 detail shop, and they'll refer my detail shop, just like they refer the pool man and the glass man and the, you know, easy home cleaning.
Speaker A:It's like, they're welcome package.
Speaker A:I'm in it because I've taken care of them for so long that they're still referring work out to me, you know, and it's like.
Speaker A:And it's just.
Speaker A:It's always a referral system that we had going on.
Speaker A:And again, it's like, when you help others and you build other people up in their business, they're going to refer you.
Speaker A:And I mean, people call me still from storefronts just to see where I'm at.
Speaker A:Or, hey, I saw you were here or you were out there, you know, or when I was in Mexico, there was getting a lot of phone calls from Southern California, like, hey, you just passed by my town.
Speaker A:And you know, send me a picture or go here, go try this restaurant.
Speaker A:And it's all these storefronts.
Speaker A:Because again, the way that I.
Speaker A:The way that I sell is not to sell you product, not to sell you something.
Speaker A:It's more of how can I help you make more money in your store?
Speaker A:And let's get an event, let's plan a car show, let's do, you know, a meet and greet.
Speaker A:Let's do something to bring detailers here.
Speaker A:Because when I can get 20 detailers here.
Speaker A:Then we invite all these other brands that you have in the store.
Speaker A:Now, it's a small event right now.
Speaker A:They're just gonna buy.
Speaker A:And then they're like.
Speaker A:And they're like, wow, how much is that going to cost us?
Speaker A:And I'm like, I can't charge you because I'm here for a manufacturer.
Speaker A:And they're like, oh, really?
Speaker A:You're just gonna.
Speaker A:Yeah, let's do a flyer, let's pick a date, pull up a calendar.
Speaker A:And then it's like, okay, now they want to buy from you because now you're the one that's helping them, you know, and then you're not that sales rep that just calls everybody every six months and be like, oh, you ready for another $10,000 order?
Speaker A:Like, no, I'm not.
Speaker A:Yeah, exactly six months, you know, so.
Speaker A:So to me, it's always, you know, to go back to the question is just to serve others to give back, you know?
Speaker B:Yeah, that's awesome.
Speaker B:Well, listen, so before we wrap this up for anybody who's listening, listening, who's, you know, maybe not.
Speaker B:Doesn't, doesn't know what the mafia is or is curious about it or on the fence.
Speaker B:Why, why should people join the mafia?
Speaker A:I mean, this is a class that I give to the oncoming students because we only get four students a month that come in and it's usually on a Wednesday night or Thursday night.
Speaker A:Whether I'm up there or whether I'm doing a zoom call with them is in my roles to explain to them what the detail mafia is.
Speaker A:And then, in short, we are a close knit family of detailers that just help each other grow.
Speaker A:Where it's, this is a mastermind group, not a technician group.
Speaker A:So this is not a forum, you know, do we, is there the technical side?
Speaker A:Yes, but we help each other more on the business and personal side.
Speaker A:We build.
Speaker A:We'd like to say it's just well rounded business owners, entrepreneurs, you know, that's what we, that's what we're looking for.
Speaker A:And if that's something that interests you and you want to have those types of conversations and you want to network and you want to be able to have, have these types of connections and you want to level up, there's people in this group that will help you get there.
Speaker A:And I'm not saying that they won't because Justin the Bottle's phone blows up all the time.
Speaker A:Rennie's phone gets blown up all the time.
Speaker A:A lot of times not our members.
Speaker A:And he's still entertaining all these Phone calls.
Speaker A:But that's what we do and that's what we are.
Speaker A:You know, we have our own forum, we have our own education days, we have our own webinars.
Speaker A:All that just comes with the group.
Speaker A:And then there's the opportunities obviously to get involved in different, different projects.
Speaker A:Not only the Air Force One, but there's people that go to McCall's through Team PNS.
Speaker A:We have another project, Warburg Eagle in El Paso, Texas, that it's a museum too, that we go out there and get to do some planes.
Speaker A:And then there's all these things that just pop up.
Speaker A:So it's just, we're just a family of detailers that help each other out and build each other up and help each other get to that next level.
Speaker A:You know, there's a lot of detailers in the detail mafia that are still have full time jobs from sales reps, from firefighters, ems.
Speaker A:You know, we have people who sell insurance and they're detailing, but we're helping them get to that next level of stopping, you know, quitting that job and going full time detailing the right way.
Speaker A:You know, and that's, and that's through the mentorship, that's through the guidance that we're, that we're out there to, to provide for you.
Speaker A:And a lot of it is because people in this group are just like me, where we're going to turn around, you know, and Rennie always said it, if it took me 20 years, it's going to take Oscar, Oscar 15.
Speaker A:But the guy that Oscar's teaching is going to take him five.
Speaker A:And the next one should, you know, 10 and the next, I should be doing it in five.
Speaker A:Because we're, we're helping each other and giving each other that knowledge instead of holding it like, no, it's mine.
Speaker A:No one's gonna ever know what I'm doing.
Speaker A:And I'm gonna put all my compounds and ketchup bottles.
Speaker A:Nobody knows what I use, you know.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:That type of stuff.
Speaker A:It's not like that.
Speaker A:You know, we, we share the knowledge and we share their experience and you know, it's, it's a mastermind group of detailers and other businesses.
Speaker A:Because there's other, there's other, we're just, just not detailers or storefront owners.
Speaker A:There's car wash owners, you know, but it's all related to this industry.
Speaker A:But I would say right now, I would say about 15 of our group still has a full time job.
Speaker B:Wow.
Speaker A:Outside of this industry.
Speaker A:Wow.
Speaker A:So I mean, and that's really what it is is we just.
Speaker A:We get together and we're just a big family, you know, and sometimes this.
Speaker A:This may be a group that you want to be into, but it's also a group that you're probably not into because, you know, with all of that, we do have rules and regulations.
Speaker A:You know, we.
Speaker A:We do have, you know, a code of conduct that we have to follow.
Speaker A:We do have certain things that we can't be just going out there and just talking smack on forums and Facebook and, you know, there's not.
Speaker A:None of that stuff.
Speaker A:And.
Speaker A:And it's very.
Speaker A:It's a very organized.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Organization.
Speaker A:You know, and it's.
Speaker A:It's there for a reason, and it works.
Speaker A:And a lot of people like it and it.
Speaker A:Because it fits what they want to do.
Speaker A:And some people, they may not like it because that's not what they want to do, but it is a very structured organization, you know, and.
Speaker A:And again, it's.
Speaker A:It's.
Speaker A:It's there.
Speaker A:It's built for that.
Speaker A:But, you know, talking to detailers, today I had two.
Speaker A:They're like, oh, wow, that's cool that you guys do that.
Speaker A:You know, but it's like, can we do this?
Speaker A:And automatically like, well, you guys are going to Air Force One July.
Speaker A:Can I go?
Speaker A:And I'm like, yeah, no, it doesn't work that way.
Speaker A:And this.
Speaker A:And then I start explaining to.
Speaker A:And they're like, oh, that takes too long.
Speaker A:Well, that's.
Speaker A:I don't want to do all that.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:Probably not for that guy.
Speaker A:You know, know, nothing on him.
Speaker A:He's still a good dude.
Speaker A:We're still going to talk to him, but it's just not for him, you know, and it's like that.
Speaker A:And it's just, you know, I like to call it, we're a big family.
Speaker B:And I will say, I mean, obviously I'm.
Speaker B:I'm friends with a lot of people in the mafia.
Speaker B:And the one thing that I always hear is exactly what you said is, is it.
Speaker B:Is that like brotherhood, family, whatever of information?
Speaker B:That's not like, you know, oh, man.
Speaker B:Like, you know, I got this paint.
Speaker B:That's not.
Speaker B:It's.
Speaker B:It's not that.
Speaker B:It's.
Speaker B:It's, hey, how do I grow my business?
Speaker B:Hey, how.
Speaker B:You know, I'm having trouble with my marketing or my social media.
Speaker B:It is like you said, more of a master class versus a, you know, what pad should I use?
Speaker A:The technical side is there.
Speaker B:You know, I'm sure it is.
Speaker A:But one thing, one thing that we thrive on is like, whatever you learn on the five day, we'll always refer you back to that, you know, and if when we do get a technical question, you know, I got this car.
Speaker A:What pad and combo is it?
Speaker A:You're gonna get that smart answer.
Speaker A:Yeah, well, no, I didn't then refer back to the basics.
Speaker A:Do the test box.
Speaker A:So then you get that knowledge, you know, because we continue to push that knowledge on the technical side.
Speaker A:So, yeah, a lot of it is technical, you know, product referrals, you know, training referrals.
Speaker A:You know, people think because you're in this group, you can't train anywhere else.
Speaker A:No, we encourage the training.
Speaker A:I mean, I.
Speaker A:I've taken other trainings, you know, with other companies, and it's just like, especially because I'm traveling so much.
Speaker A:Like, I just sat through a PPF for Onyx training in Mexico City for three days, you know, and it's like, because I was prepping the cars with the chemicals that we sell, so it's like.
Speaker A:So you get to see a lot of things and.
Speaker A:And, you know, the technical side is definitely there, and we have a lot.
Speaker A:But, you know, we're.
Speaker A:We're at a level where we're talking about investments, we're talking about who.
Speaker A:Who wants to go in on a car wash, who wants to, you know, wants to open up a tunnel, who.
Speaker A:Who's buying land.
Speaker A:You know, that's the goal is like, you know, a lot of people own their business, but do you own the land where that building sits?
Speaker A:Do you own the building?
Speaker A:And that's.
Speaker A:That.
Speaker A:Those are the conversations we're having is what is the next big level?
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker A:What's the next step?
Speaker B:It's definitely getting to that next level or taking that next step.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:And yeah, I mean, like I said, I mean, a lot of the guys that I talk to is, you know, that's.
Speaker B:Their whole thing is like, you know, I've got all these members, you know, that I can reach out to.
Speaker B:You know, I'm having a problem with.
Speaker B:With this or.
Speaker B:Or this is my idea.
Speaker B:How do I do it?
Speaker B:You know, hey, you know, my.
Speaker B:You know, I'm two years in.
Speaker B:In my business, and I can talk to somebody who's been 10 years in and they can help me, you know, like, yeah, I think that's.
Speaker B:I think that's definitely one of the cool things you guys have going on.
Speaker B:And not.
Speaker B:Not that there aren't other groups out there like that, but that.
Speaker B:That is.
Speaker B:That is one of the main things I hear from the mafia is that it is more of that Help me grow versus help me, you know, do this one car that I'm working on.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's, it's definitely a long term, you know, life changing.
Speaker A:When I came into this group, I was that detailer on social media, detailing seven days a week, 12 hours a day.
Speaker A:You know, if you're not detailing us on a Sunday.
Speaker A:Are you really a detailer?
Speaker A:That used to be my Sunday post.
Speaker A:If you're not detailing on a Sunday.
Speaker A:And then I, then I ran into this guy named Justin Lovato and Joab Flores.
Speaker A:Yeah, they're like, what are you doing?
Speaker A:You're dumb.
Speaker A:Like, what are you doing?
Speaker A:And, you know, and, and we, we have the hard conversations of like, you know, what are your numbers and what are you really bringing in?
Speaker A:You know, today I talked to the detailers of, you know, I asked them, what's the cost of detailing?
Speaker A:What does it cost Oscar Hernandez to detail one car?
Speaker A:And everybody looked at me like, what do you mean?
Speaker A:What?
Speaker A:This shouldn't cost you anything.
Speaker A:It costs me a lot, the products.
Speaker A:If I'm mobile.
Speaker A:Like, it, like, what is it really costing you if I'm in a shop?
Speaker A:What's my overhead?
Speaker A:What.
Speaker A:What do I got to bring in every day?
Speaker A:But see, I didn't know all of this stuff.
Speaker A:This is stuff that I got through mentorship.
Speaker A:And then I took on some college courses for business.
Speaker A:I've taken a sales class.
Speaker A:I've taken off duty education.
Speaker A:I've, I've read a lot of books on business and marketing because I like to educate myself on this now so much that it's like every time I jump on a plane, I'm getting a new book.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's just like tradition now.
Speaker A:Like, I have just a book.
Speaker A:And then I had, you know, so when someone asked me for help, it's like, hey, how did you learn this?
Speaker A:It's like, hey, dude, I got a great book.
Speaker A:You're gonna read this page to this page, and then we're gonna talk about it.
Speaker A:Because I want them to read it, I want them to understand it, and then we're gonna go back and, you know, and talk about this stuff.
Speaker A:So that's really what the group is and the intent of the group.
Speaker A:A lot of people don't see that because they're not in it.
Speaker A:And they just see guys in black shirts and black hats, right?
Speaker A:Yeah, Mobile tech.
Speaker A:And it's like, it's just, there's just a detail.
Speaker A:You remember when they did that with the rag company, Bob and Bob, Bob Phillips and Rainey and Levi did the thing of the gang back in, I think, like 19.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And it's really not.
Speaker A:It's.
Speaker A:It's really.
Speaker A:It's.
Speaker A:We're here to help each other out, you know, and.
Speaker A:And when we do link up and, you know, and talk and build each other up, it's like that's what we do, you know, it's like you need some help.
Speaker A:You need some stuff.
Speaker A:You need.
Speaker A:You know, anytime I tell people whenever I'm in town, you guys want to come down, you guys want to try our products, or you guys want to just come hang out the shop, you know?
Speaker A:You know, you need a plotter, and I have one at my shop.
Speaker A:Come pick it up, dude, I'm not using it.
Speaker A:Take it.
Speaker A:Well, how much you want?
Speaker A:Just make money off of it, bro.
Speaker A:We'll talk about it.
Speaker A:You know, it's that type of stuff, you know, and.
Speaker A:And again, the technical side is there, but again, we're just a big, big family helping each other out.
Speaker B:Well, listen, so if anybody wants to be able to reach out to you to either get more information on the Mafia or Stinger products or any of that stuff.
Speaker B:How does anybody reach out to you, get a hold of you?
Speaker A:Honestly, I'm.
Speaker A:I'm always on 805, my 805 page on Instagram.
Speaker A:Instagram, mostly it's where I'm posting, but you can also reach out to Detailing Success, Instagram or the website.
Speaker A:As far as Stinger products, you can follow us on our social media or mine.
Speaker A:Again, if you send one to 805 Detail Shop a message on there, hit me up on there, I'll get back to you.
Speaker A:That's the one that I'm usually running, but currently I.
Speaker A:I run Detailing Success along with Becky, I'm helping.
Speaker A:Running the Stinger page myself.
Speaker A:So I'm out there on all those pages and then, you know, just reach out, send me a message.
Speaker A:If I don't get back to you, I'm usually.
Speaker A:I'll get back to you.
Speaker B:Yeah, within a few hours.
Speaker B:I'll tell you.
Speaker B:How not to get a hold of Oscar is Don't ask Jerry Grant, who.
Speaker B:Who talks to Oscar two or three times a day.
Speaker B:Don't ask Jerry Grant.
Speaker B:You know, hey, can you.
Speaker B:Can you ask Oscar to come on a podcast for you?
Speaker A:In his defense, I talked to him twice.
Speaker A:He just forgot the podcast.
Speaker B:Dude.
Speaker B:And I even.
Speaker B:I even we did a podcast that day.
Speaker B:Well, not the day I messaged you, but the day before.
Speaker B:We did a podcast Wednesday night, and I said, hey, man, did you get a chance to talk to Oscar yet?
Speaker B:He's like, oh, no, no, hang on.
Speaker B:And then.
Speaker B:And then he still never said anything.
Speaker B:And the only reason why I asked him was because.
Speaker B:Because I don't have your number.
Speaker B:And then.
Speaker B:And one, and then two.
Speaker B:When I looked on messenger, we've.
Speaker B:We've never messaged each other on messenger.
Speaker B:And sometimes I know, you know, like, it goes into the request folder and you might not ever see it.
Speaker B:So, you know, I'm glad that I.
Speaker B:I was just like, all right, well, screw it.
Speaker B:Jerry's not going to do it.
Speaker B:Let me message Oscar.
Speaker B:And you messaged me back within, like, minutes, dude.
Speaker B:I was like, oh, okay, awesome.
Speaker A:Yeah, I have my notification.
Speaker A:And then, honestly.
Speaker A:And again, it goes back to the detail mafia.
Speaker A:We just had this conversation two days ago with the group.
Speaker A:It's like, hey, any official business for detailing success or the detail mafia use our emails?
Speaker A:Because I've been getting Snapchat, tick tock.
Speaker A:And I'm like, messages, hey, Oscar.
Speaker A:It's because I'll press the store and they'll reply, and then the conversation goes on there.
Speaker A:And it's like.
Speaker A:So I.
Speaker A:I do manage it because again, I just happen to be in my inbox because I was answering questions on the Stinger and I was switching over to mine, and I saw your message.
Speaker A:I was like, oh, yeah, like, cool.
Speaker A:And then I text Jerry.
Speaker A:I was like, was I supposed to be in a podcast?
Speaker A:He's like.
Speaker A:He's like, let me call you.
Speaker A:And he calls.
Speaker A:He goes, yeah, I forgot to tell you.
Speaker A:I was like, dude, you just talked to me 10 minutes ago.
Speaker B:Yeah, yeah, so.
Speaker B:So again, if you want to get a hold of Oscar, do not go through Jerry Grant.
Speaker B:Just message him.
Speaker A:Yeah, he will forget.
Speaker A:No, hit me up on my Facebook, Oscar Hernandez, 805 Detail Shop, you know, and just shoot me a message.
Speaker A:I'll shoot you my phone number right now.
Speaker B:Yeah, that's cool.
Speaker B:Yeah, because I'll text you back.
Speaker B:So you have mine.
Speaker B:But.
Speaker B:But, yeah, but, yeah, listen, man, I.
Speaker B:I appreciate you for doing this kind of short notice because again, I think I messaged you Wednesday night or yesterday or whatever it was, you know, and.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Yeah, so I do appreciate you for, you know, kind of having to.
Speaker B:Having to be able to take the time to do this kind of shorthanded.
Speaker B:It was great, as always, to talk to you.
Speaker B:I know we always get to see each other at the events and everything like that, even if it's just in passing.
Speaker B:But, you know, I was.
Speaker B:I was excited to do this one with you?
Speaker B:Because I was.
Speaker B:I was like, man, you know, kind of going through my list of who I haven't talked to, and I was like, dude, I've never talked to Oscar on the podcast.
Speaker B:Why?
Speaker B:Like, I need to get him on.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker B:Yeah, I appreciate you, buddy, for doing this and.
Speaker A:Oh, thank you for having me on, man.
Speaker A:And, you know, thank you to all the listeners that come on here and hope to see you guys at the next events or.
Speaker B:Yeah, yeah, definitely.
Speaker B:And enjoy whatever downtime you do have this weekend before you have to go to Houston on Sunday.
Speaker B:So, you know, God said it.
Speaker A:Well, honestly, I got tonight, which is, believe it or not, when I get nice like this, it's like, it's cool.
Speaker A:And then tomorrow, and then I'm probably gonna head back up to Pasadena because, you know, they're having a meet and greet.
Speaker A:And I just love being around detailers, man.
Speaker A:I love hanging out with people and just collaborating and just talking, and so I'll probably head out there and then just, you know, Sunday, roll out to Texas and.
Speaker A:Awesome be out there, so.
Speaker B:All right, buddy.
Speaker B:You have a great night, man.
Speaker B:I appreciate it.
Speaker B:Take care.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker B:Later, man.
Speaker A:You too.
Speaker A:Thanks a lot, brother.
Speaker A:Out.
